4/22/14, 12:57 AM - Great, great note Chris! Thanks. I have three of these beauties in my cellar... Since it's so rare I don't think I will pop any for at least 10 years.
7/8/13, 8:16 AM - Thanks for the full, complete, note! This wine is indeed expensive and difficult to find, particularly for foreign buyers. Mourvèdre is for sure a great component which adds a lot when properly used. The trend nowadays tends to find the perfect equilibrium among Mourvedre/Syrah/Grenache to get the finesse most fine drinkers enjoy instead of a too-ripe juice.
7/8/13, 8:13 AM - Thanks for the note! Your Tumblr is neat; you may want to give more description in your "About" section though ;-)
7/8/13, 8:10 AM - Wow, interestingly, the last two bottles of Clos des Papes 2007 I've popped were totally out compared to the usually perfectness it used to deliver.. great to see a good showing here! Thanks for the complete note!
7/8/13, 8:07 AM - Thanks for the three notes on the top notch 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape; it's great reading that the plague about CdP love spreads ;-)! Among the three wines you've tasted, I consider that the Aieul is the most approachable one, although all three show a glorious potential! Keep on drinking/posting!
6/24/13, 11:09 AM - I'm glad you liked this so much! Thanks for the note Chris!
1/1/13, 12:00 PM - Christoffer, one word: WOW! Great notes on those champagnes! Grande Année 2002 is one of my favorites alonside Dom Perignon 2002 and Dom Ruinart 2002. Hope to see those on the BBoard.
6/17/13, 4:51 AM - Chritoffer, by the way, I had a bottle of the Grande Année 2004 a few weeks ago and it was GREAT, drinking even better (with less potential though) than the 2002.
6/6/13, 3:02 AM - Thanks for the thorough tasting note!About the serving temperature, Christophe Sabon recommends 15-16°C max. I agree that I would either pop and pour this beauty or just cellar it for, at least, 5 to 7 years. This Chaupin 2010 is a BIG, BIG wine - 2011 shows more direct finesse and subtlety.About the oak, I double checked on chateauneuf.dk, and yop, a small part of the growing is done in new barrels. You may be right about the correlation between this and the vanilla hints.
5/18/13, 2:29 AM - As of now, the wine already provides a great experience on the VERY PRIMARY aromatics. It's a gorgeous young wine. It's hard to give a perfectly fitted drinking window since it depends on how much of this single wine you have in your cellar and how expensive they were. I state that because, since the wine is already gorgeous, I would recommend giving it a shot if you've some more for later consumption. If it was for one and only one bottle, I would recommend stashing it for something like seven years... that would be popping it starting 2020.
4/21/13, 10:54 PM - Good move! And I bet the Charvin was better priced.
4/25/13, 6:11 AM - "Seal of approval," I like this expression! Chaupin 2010 is in a top league (and I don't even talk about the Vieilles Vignes..), a league where $89 is considered reasonable. The high Mourvedre component of the Beaucastel is very classy, likewise in the Saint Prefert Charles Giraud. I love them too.I really advise you to purchase the gigondas St Damien if you're looking for a wine which have one of the best QPR these days.
4/19/13, 9:32 PM - Dinner in La Mirande...Pegau Cave in CdP..Nice trip! Thanks for the note
2/6/13, 8:50 AM - Thanks for the note! I'm a big fan of Janasse myself...and, having had a dinner with Christophe Sabon a few weeks ago, I can tell you that, to him, Janasse performed extremely well in 2011, having produced great outgoing wines. I will be tasting them in April so my report should be available on my blog then...
1/13/13, 1:46 AM - Thanks for the note! I too think this is going through a quite phase so I tend to open my 2009 first.
1/7/13, 8:57 AM - Good to see this is showing well! I was afraid Pegau 2007 would live up to the level of the vintage but apparently it does!
12/30/12, 6:46 AM - Glad you enjoyed the Chaupin 2010 so much!
12/27/12, 3:54 AM - +1! Such an amazing wine! 2001..2005..2007...2009...2010... Janasse VV seems to be a guarantee of greatness!
12/27/12, 3:51 AM - Thanks for the note! Trust me, the hype is just starting... I really hope you get to taste this again eventually, but anyway you did well to pop one now as it's in a great place!
12/27/12, 3:48 AM - Thanks!
12/21/12, 12:07 PM - WOW - awesome note! Thanks Chris! I'm really glad the wine seems so good, I'm not gonna regret buying so much of it after all. ;-)
12/20/12, 10:04 AM - I agree that the 2009 is currently tasting better than the 2010.
12/18/12, 11:15 AM - Thanks for the heads up! Really got to taste some of this and post...
12/18/12, 11:14 AM - Well… thanks for posting on a wine that virtually doesn't exist...;-)! Pegau apparently did a marvelous job with their 2003s...WOW!
12/18/12, 11:13 AM - Thanks for the great note!! It's indeed a great wine to enjoy right now... +1
12/16/12, 4:51 AM - Totally second your tasting note! This Charles Giraud 2010 is glorious! Thanks for posting.
12/16/12, 6:45 AM - Great! I'm glad!
12/16/12, 5:03 AM - Thanks for the greatly detailed note! I'm such you don't even need 15 years of cellaring but more like 4-8 years. Keep on posting those kind of notes ;-)
12/16/12, 5:01 AM - I agree this might turn out to be his best achievement but I would prefer a 2009 nowadays to wait on his 2010 to unfold its magic.
12/16/12, 4:59 AM - 2007s are not performing great nowadays.. you should go for the 2009s which are simply YUMMY!
12/16/12, 4:58 AM - 2008 was a very good vintage for Clos St Jean....And because the market is extremely sluggish...those kind of great wines can be affordable. Thanks for posting such a good note!
