Smaak / Afdronk: Mondvullend, dik-sappig en filmend mondgevoel, retronasale impressies van zo ongeveer de complete neus van deze wijn. De dikte en concentratie van een dessertwijn, maar dan - afgezien van 15,5% alcohol - niet zoet maar droog. Een subtiel bittertje als gevolg van vattannines. Lange afdronk. Algemeen / potentieel: SQN is een liefhebberswijn. Belegen, laat staan (volgens sommige wijnschrijvers overjarige witte SQN is al helemaal bijzonder. Je houdt ervan of je haat het. Colour: Deep golden yellow. Aroma / bouquet: Diffusingly expressive and particularly complex bouquet. Vanilla, wax, candle wax, apricot compote, cinnamon, caramel, lightly smoked butter, overripe yellow apple, overripe banana, licorice. Taste / Aftertaste: Mouth-filling, thick-juicy and filmy mouthfeel, retronasal impressions of almost the complete nose of this wine. Zuiver. Aangenaam filmend mondgevoel. Lange afdronk. Algemeen / potentieel: Indrukwekkende Chablis Grand Cru. Die voor mij echter niet in de buurt komt van de Les Clos van Dauvissat of Raveneau… Maar wellicht kom ik hiermee uit de kast als een tè verwende Chablis-drinker… En is het simpelweg een andere stijl, die mij persoonlijk iets minder aanspreekt? 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Smaak / Afdronk: 16 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 91/100

Colour: Light straw yellow. Aroma / bouquet: Fresh bouquet, citrus, unripe pineapple, yeast / freshly baked baguette, Taste / Aftertaste: Pleasant rusticity ', retronasal citrus and unripe pineapple, smooth and juicy, fine balance between freshness and ripeness. Pure. Pleasant filmy mouthfeel. Long finish. General / potential: Impressive Chablis Grand Cru. However, for me it doesn't come close to the Les Clos from Dauvissat or Raveneau... But perhaps I come out as an overly spoiled Chablis drinker... Colour: Deep dark red. Aroma / bouquet: Seductive bouquet with a subtle hint of rose petals, red fruit and marzipan. Taste / Aftertaste: Seductive in the nose, in the mouth especially sturdy and - after 12 years - even somewhat angular. Serious, slightly drying tannins with a pronounced bitterness. In itself nice qualities for a wine such as Barolo, but for a Napa Cab of 12 years old I'm worried. Imbalance between smell and taste.... General / potential: Tough 'second Promontory', but with limited complexity and - after 12 years - a bit too much angularity... And Yes, I also came to that conclusion with the 2013 Matriarch I tasted yesterday ;-).

Smaak / Afdronk: Geweldig verleidelijke SQN, zoals gebruikelijk. Mondvullend en geconcentreerd, dik-sappig, maar ook in de mond iets minder complexiteit dan waarop ik bij SQN inmiddels reken. Kleur: Licht fluwelig oranjeroze, voor rosé opvallend donker, voor een rode wijn opvallend licht. Aroma / bouquet: Zacht, verleidelijk en aangenaam bouquet. Atypisch voor rosé, zeer typisch voor een SQN rosé op basis van 85% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre en 5% Syrah. Een bouquet van bosaardbeitjes, zoete gemberkoek en zelfs iets van kaneel. Smaak / Afdronk: Ook in de mond is dit in vrijwel niets een rosé en in alles een SQN-rosé. Zachte zuurgraad, dik-sappig, geconcentreerd en mondvullend. Retronasale indrukken van aardbeiencompote, zoethout en kruidkoek. Serieus alcoholisch (15,4%), maar gezien de power van deze wijn voor mij niet storend. Algemeen / potentieel: Volgens velen vèr over de houdbaarheidsdatum, volgens mij nog enkele jaren UITSTEKEND drinkbaar en vooral 'genietbaar'. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Smaak / Afdronk: 16 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 92/100

Colour: Light velvety orange-pink, strikingly dark for rosé, strikingly light for red wine. Aroma / bouquet: Soft, seductive and pleasant bouquet. Atypical for rosé, very typical for an SQN rosé based on 85% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Syrah. A bouquet of wild strawberries, sweet gingerbread and even some cinnamon. Smaak / Afdronk: In de mond nog serieus vitaal en jeugdig. Aangename zuurgraad, mondvullend en geconcentreerd maar in dit stadium nog met een vooral sluimerende complexiteit. Verfijnde tannines. Maar in dit stadium nog te jeugdig, vooral in relatie met de al wel wat tertiaire neus. Algemeen / potentieel: In potentie een grootste wijn. Maar op dit moment OP ZEKER nog niet. Decanteren helpt, maar geduld helpt NOG meer! 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 15 + Algemeen / potentieel: 10 = 91/100

Colour: Deep ruby red. Aroma / bouquet: Even after decanting, this greatness remains in a kind of hibernation. Pleasant, semi-closed bouquet with subtle tertiary notes. Taste / Aftertaste: Still seriously vital and youthful in the mouth. Pleasant acidity, mouth-filling and concentrated, but at this stage still with a mainly dormant complexity. Refined tannins. But still too youthful at this stage, especially in relation to the somewhat tertiary nose. General / potential: Potentially a greatest wine. But DEFINITELY not at this point. Smaak / Afdronk: Ook in de mond presenteert deze Chardonnay van Cantina Terlano zich als aangenaam, zij het met een beperkte complexiteit. Rond en romig. Een hint van ananas, heel subtiel houtgebruik. Lange afdronk. Algemeen / potentieel: Uiterst aangename Chardonnay, rond en romig, uiterst subtiel houtgebruik, geen vanillebom. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 14 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 88/100

Colour: Medium straw yellow. Aroma / bouquet: Pleasant and fresh aroma, clean, limited complexity but pleasant, a hint of citrus, some tropical fruit. Kleur: Robijnrood met een lichte rand. Aroma / bouquet: Halfgesloten, net als vijf jaar geleden. Een wat donker aroma waarin vooral laurier en kruidnagel overheerst. Smaak / Afdronk: Aangename frisse start. Stoere, wat hoekige wijn met een wat mij betreft tè nadrukkelijke toon van laurierblaadjes. Uitgesproken tannines. Alhoewel de wijn volgens RP aan het einde van zijn ontwikkelingshorizon is, is er geen spoor van tertiaire aroma's waarneembaar. Lange afdronk. Algemeen / potentieel: De 2014 Ao Yun is verre van Frans, maar heeft ook niet de gepolijstheid van bordeaux-blends uit de nieuwe wereld. Zo de wijn al vergelijkbaar is, dan nog het meest met bordeaux-blends uit Chili of Argentinië (waarin ik ook vaak laurier meen te herkennen). Wel jammer dat deze wijn - zonder dat er sprake is van een opvallende extractie - niet ècht tertiair wordt. Kwestie van tijd? We gaan het meemaken bij de resterende flessen. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 16 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 90/100

Daarnaast cacao, zoethout en mokka. Smaak / Afdronk: Wow, vanaf het eerste slokje een uiterst aangename en zowel stoere als super-verleidelijke wijn. Zachte zuurgraad, uitgesproken tannines, mooi gerijpt maar met een aangenaam en droppig (laurier) bittertje. Retronasale indrukken van mokka en chocola. Lange afdronk. Algemeen / potentieel: The Mascot wordt gemaakt van de jonge stokken van Harlan, Bond en Promontory. Een prachtig glas, stoer en verleidelijk. Zeer toegankelijk. Maar niet met de complexiteit van de 'oudere en grotere broertjes'. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Smaak / Afdronk: 17 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 93/100

Colour: Deep impenetrable dark red with a thin edge. Aroma / bouquet: Pleasant bouquet with accents of dark fruit (blackberries, blackcurrants and especially cherries). Algemeen / potentieel: Jeugdige powerwijn die nog een lange toekomst voor zich heeft. Maar in deze fase ongelofelijk al ongelofelijk aangenaam. Smaak / Afdronk: Uiterst geconcentreerde, donkere Ch9dP, zachte zuurgraad, boordevol prachtig gerijpte maar nog stoere tannines, ook in de mond zeer aromatisch met impressies van donker fruit, kokindjes, gemberkoek en mon cherie-bonbons. Algemeen / potentieel: De XXL-cuvee werd maar drie keer uitgebracht, in 2007, 2016 en 2019 en is gemaakt van 75% oude Grenache-stokken en rijpte drie jaar op kleine houten vaten. Smaak / Afdronk: Mondvullend en werkelijk in alles boterzacht. Verfijnd zachte zuurgraad, boterzachte tannines. Geweldig aangename en verfijnde wijn. Lange afdronk. Algemeen / potentieel: Ik heb grote moeite gehad met jonge Nit de Nin, die soms naar nagellak rook. Die nagellak verdween, maar echt aangenaam en zacht leek Nit de Nin nooit te worden. Dat blijkt een vergissing. Nit de Nin vraagt blijkbaar om veel meer geduld. Dit was de minst krachtige, minder (indruk van) extractie. Color: Deep ruby red with - after 15 years ?!) - an edge that I can only describe as 'purplish'. Aroma / bouquet: Limited aromatic expressiveness and complexity, pleasant, vinous, a residue of dried fruit, dried fruit, blackberry compote. Taste / Aftertaste: Mouth-filling and truly buttery soft in everything. Refined soft acidity, buttery tannins. Very pleasant and refined wine. Long aftertaste. General / potential: I had great difficulty with young Nit de Nin, who sometimes smelled like nail polish. That nail polish disappeared, but Nit de Nin never seemed to become really pleasant and soft. That turns out to be a mistake. Nit the Nin apparently requires a lot more patience. This was the least powerful, less (impression of) extraction. Also in the mouth the aromas can hardly be described more concretely than vinous and pleasant.
