Young and primary. Solid purple fruit, tar, smoke, resin. Dark fruit with some complexity. Will need to develop more to eventually better than just pretty good. Spicy. Has good potential. Will be interesting to follow.

A very nice Lytton. Pretty, firm, feminine. Lovely. Drink or hold.

3/2/21, 1:23 PM - Yeah it is! I recommend all Lytton Springs actually!

Wow. What a nose. Palate does not disappoint either. Fresh, dark, dense, chewy. Young, drinking fine now and for 20+ years. A brawny wine. Fabulous.

3/2/21, 7:35 AM - Well I think they're drinking great right now. And in 20 years. Mine are off-site so no impulse bottle openings.

Good firm fruit, feminine floral notes, dark tobacco. Very nice wine in a very good place right now. Drink now in its young-mid adulthood or hold for years and watch it mature. Can't go wrong. A very good vintage for this wine.

10/23/20, 6:54 AM - How flattering, thank you for the kind words! I do love Geyserville and Lytton and it's truly a pleasure tasting all these vintages!

Ripe, lush, silky, fully mature. Full of big, bright, soft fruit with lots of floral notes, soy and tobacco, dark chocolate. This is what you'd call hedonistic wine, but there is enough feminine delicacy and complexity that it is quite interesting as well. Drinking at peak with fully resolved tannins, this has enough stuffing to last quite a while--5 years no problem and perhaps 10 before it fades. This wine should be a popular attention grabber.

9/29/18, 5:29 PM - Oh great, glad it helped!

Clear, clean with dark fruit but light bodied, dark cutting acid, orange peel, black olive. Tobacco, herbs. Very nice, a bit simple and not a wine destined for long age. But very nice balance between fruit and acid, refreshing. A very nice example of Carignan. I'd buy this again ($20).

8/28/18, 4:29 PM - I'm sorry at this point (a month later) I don't recall, but odds are it was pop and pour. Cheers!

Very nice, round, full. This is a really nice bottle of wine. Fully mature, missing some of that youthful energy, but replaced it with good secondary flavors.

11/11/16, 7:07 AM - This was pop and pour. Didn't feel like it needed air.

Great firm dark fruit with cutting acid, tight berry, smoke, coffee and earth. I really love this wine, especially with bright acidic food. Great for the price. Must buy more to have around the house.

10/9/15, 8:55 PM - Yeah I always have Ridge Carignane on hand. As a Ridge member it costs under $25. An amazing bargain. Always a pleasure to drink. Company always loves it. The best thing is that it goes great with food or without.

Tasting at Ridge Lytton (Ridge Lytton Springs): Stiff, young, tight with dark tannic high toned acid. Charred french oak. Needs a lot of age. Excellent potential.
  • MRichman commented:

9/17/13, 7:38 PM - It had the flavors I associate with "charred French oak". It was an impression, not a statement of vinification or barrel aging. Sorry if that was unclear.
