Very nice white burg. Restaurant bottle I had a few weeks back was tastier. I little bit closed this evening -- maybe even a little dumb. Hold a bit or maybe decant. Very good potential here.

Rose petals, Dr. Pepper, black cherry, perfumed. Sinewy but not lean. Chiseled, stony. Drinks as a Volnay should. Drinking perfectly.

Superb bottle. Popped and poured, tasted over two hours. Nose is all about rose petals. crushed red berries and red fruit. Palate is long, ripe but restrained dark red fruit, hints of stoniness. No need to rush and drink this one. Drinks like a premier cru (since it is one). Bravo!

This is a beautiful wine. Translucent red in the glass. Perfumed nose. Silky red berries with some cranberry and cherry notes on the palate, great acidity, balance, and length. Very evolved -- would not have guessed '10 1er blind (seems that this precociousness has hit most of the H-N '10s -- maybe it's the overfill/corks?). In fact I did taste this blind -- incorrectly guessed '07 Chambolle. But this does not speak of NSG. Gluttony in a glass -- yes. Speaks of its terroir? No. But I really liked it. Third bottle from a case. I'll be drinking remaining bottles over the short term.

Translucent dark red in the glass. Musky, spicy black cherry fruit with wisps of reduction that all but blew off wth time. Pretty big and masculine, more about its primary fruit than terroir and minerality at this juncture. But certainly very Santenots in character. Well done. I'd be inclined to hold remaining bottles for another year or so at least before again trying.

Great juice with hints of green (keeping in mind that I am very sensitive to LBT). This has gone secondary, with notes of soil, tobacco, and dried dark fruit. Pretty good acidity and overall balance. This is not one for the long haul but enjoyable nonetheless.

Wicked primary dark red fruit with some reductive notes. Concentrated. This needs time.

Nice perfumed red berry Beaune nose, pretty good length and balance. Finishes round with no rough edges, bitterness, or dryness. Very typical and enjoyable, an easy drinker. Probably at its peak. 10th bottle consumed from a case. This wine was always good to go and has not evolved much over time.

From 375mL. Dark red fruit, soil, black truffle. Great juice if just a tad bit austere. This will only get better. Definitely would hold in formats larger than this.

So dark in the glass -- is this really a '99? Pretty big and muscular -- this is macho Volnay. Concentrated. Just marked by brett -- just enough to be distracting unless manure/barnyard is your thing. Multiple bretty bottles to date which is clearly not dissipating with time (nor with decanting).

NSG meets Chambolle -- what more is there to say? In a great spot right now. Just give it a little air. Will hold for a while but not for the long haul.

This is very Gevrey and M-G in style but very concentrated, primary, and viscous. A kir-like elixer. I'd give another 1-3 years before again trying. Lots of raw material here -- no rush to drink.

Color was a bit advanced but otherwise in pretty good shape. White and yellow stone fruit, good acid and balance, very Puligny. Pretty soft, I'd go as far as to call this feminine compared to the '05 Mouchere beside it.

Drinkable but obvious signs of premox. Color and nose told the tale. With some air, this was drinkable but advanced. Hints of greatness just flawed. More heartache.

Awkward, a bit shrill and cloying, youthful, wicked primary. Reminds me of Cali pinot tonight -- not any of the good ones (I am told there are some good ones). Hold.

Soft dark fruit with hints of earth and sauvage, this is an easy drinker. Not terribly complex but certainly representative of its terroir. Lots to like here. Drinking well now.

Drinking beautifully. Gorgeous black fruit, mineral, great balance and length, all soft edges. Gluttony in a glass for NSG. Really liked this. Last tasted in 2013.

Drinking well now but there's this subtle plummy background note on the finish that detracted from its youthfulness this evening. I think his bottle is a bit of an outlier. 2nd bottle from a six pack. I'd recommend trying one if you have to see how it's evolving. I'll likely try another bottle soon.

Good fruit and structure, but tonight this came off as a tad dumb. Maybe a little more air time would have helped here. I'd hold off a bit before consuming additional bottles. Still primary.

A 375 mL bottle from my father's cellar. Little ullage, pristine looking cork but ultimately crumbling -- decanted over mesh. Of course the nose is earthy -- but not dank. Alive and well. Sweet tobacco and dark cherry and dark plum. Soft and lovely. What a pleasant and appropriate surprise. Thanks JL.

Better than expected. Going secondary, reasonably complex Gevrey fruit, a hint of green but not particularly intrusive. This has aged well, and the ladybug taint and/or perception of underripe fruit appears to have faded considerably.

Last bottle. Smokin' smooth. Berries, dirt, soft, elegant, some class, great balance. Yes, more Chambolley than NSGy. Thought this was the CdlM not the CdF, this was drinking so well. Peaking but will probably hold for a bit. This has aged nicely. Wish I had more! Guess this bodes well for the '06 CdlM if you have it in your cellar.

This is rockstar. White stone fruit, some lychee, some restrained exoticism, mineral streak, great balance and acid. Perceived RS but finishes pretty dry. A great food wine. This should get even better with time but an awesome drink now.

375 mL released by th domaine in 2010 I believe. Nice Caz, but this is beginning to hint that it's about to fade, at least this bottle is in this format. Solid 1er GC, drinking well, now secondary, speaks of its terroir, peaking. Down to my last split of this, it's been a pleasure to follow its evolution.

Subtle fading masculine red and black fruit. This is turning secondary, with some soil and tobacco notes as well. Decent length but a touch dry on the finish. Very Volnay without any undue astringency. This dryness did begin to dissipate with about two hours of decanter time (at the time of my last glass, of course). If you own this one, I'd recommend drinking now and give it a nice decant.

This continues to drink well. Youthful, seawater, citrus, its pith, bright white and yellow fruit. Great energy. This will continue to evolve in a cold cellar.

This has sat undisturbed in a cold cellar for over three years now. Perfumed red berry nose. Dark red berry, cranberry, fennel, a hint of rhubarb on the palate. Seamless, primary, long, balanced, and delicious. Not overly complex but just glutinous fruit driven balanced Gevrey. Drinks more like 1er Cru juice. I don't see this adding too many more layers, so I'd drink now, and it'd be a shame to miss out on its fruit. Will probably hold in this way for another year or two before going secondary/tertiary. Lovely stuff.

From magnum. Cherry and wood inflected nose. Soft black cherry, tobacco, dirt, acid on the palate. Great length, balance, and concentration. Relatively soft and refined with a nice lick of acid on the back end. Mature but I'm sure will hold for a while in this format.

Lots of chewy perfumed ripe Pinot fruit with great midpalate depth and concentration. Surprisingly, after a few hours, the finish came off as just a bit clipped. This should be cellared for a few more years as this is wicked primary. Not sure about that finish however. Decanted and tasted over about three hours or so.

First 4 bottles (all 375 mL) premoxed -- this is bottle number 5 -- and it is singing. Yellow fruit with a touch of petrol and butterscotch on the nose. On the palate, this was just a little fat out of the gates, but with some decanter time, this was all about ripe white and yellow Puligny fruit, a touch of honey, a touch of flint. Good acid and balance. Maybe not the best Mouchere I've had, but certainly great for the vintage. And no premox tonight.

Hmmm. Awesome dark burg Chambolle nose, the palate does in fact give me a glimpse of Bonnes Mares. But tonight, this comes off as surprisingly dilute. Not faded or thin, just really short on concentration and length. Decent material, but I guess this is why this is labeled village. Barthod's 1er of similar ilk, not surprisingly, is in another league.

Perfumed dark red berry nose. Light on the palate for Corton, with flavors of dark berry and ripe plum, good acidity and length. A little short on concentration. Still primary but I'd drink up now. Would have thought solid 1er Beaune if tasted blind.

Transparent but dark in the glass, no bricking. Dark red fruit, some spice on the nose. Seamless Gevrey fruit on the palate, earth, great concentration and length. Singing. Grand Cru quality here. Primary but so well balanced. This should hold for a long while but in such a sweet spot now. Consumed over about three hours or so at cellar temp -- got better and better with time.
