2004 Rioja Tasting Nov-14: (Highest score on the night, tied with Remirez de Ganuza). Not the bodega's top rioja which is Vina El Pison at $400/bottle. Nose of sweet red fruits and light musk. Sweet cherry and casis, which fades into layers of pencil and leather. full body and long length, medium complexity with more than on layer of flavour. Very good though falls short of great. Can drink now with at least an hour decant and will last 10+

blind tasted against 16 others in my cellar with friends, this showed mid-pack. deep straw and clear, it smelled of sweet jasmine and other floral notes. dry....sweet stone summer stone fruits and squeeze of lemon in light oak. seems btwn chard and SB., lowlength, low acidity and low-medium complexity. low-medium balance.

9/9/12, 10:42 AM - Sept 2012 - Agree with previous comments, though picked up a hint of canteloupe and passion fruit rather than summer stone fruits. light squeeze of lemon accurate. I think this could really be a 90.
