The nose starts off with elegant black berry and dark cherry with ripe plum with loamy mineral soil. A vegetative herbal characteristic rounds out the curious nose. The palate starts with a high acid raspberries and dark cherry that wants to be a young Pinot from burgundy, but by mid palete it becomes its own fruit plum tart. This wine should not be drunk alone but with food- it shows it multiple variables of charcoal, black pepper, smooth black cherry that acid and tannins dance perfectly. This is an elegant wine that deserves respect- had it lean BBQed lamb loin, broccolini, and saffron rice. A side of yogurt with dill herbs round out the beautiful dish.

Nose of crushed berries, crushed cherries and , a little hindrance of smoke and charred bacon . On the pallet, luscious plum and cherry flavors a little bit of mineral soil and herbs. The smokiness comes out on the pallet near midsection, and you can tell there was a forest fire influence on this line, but it is lovely. Nonetheless, not a major fault. A good WINE. Head to bottles and decanted both for about an hour each head with meal.

I just like my last bottle I drank a year ago. This is a strong and beautiful Kosta Brown. The nose of crushed blackberry, blueberry and plum leads to a pallet of balanced, crushed berries, thyme, sandalwood and herbs that after four years is as fresh as it was a year and a year ago! It is balanced with acid and minimal tannins and has a beautifully long finish a great wine. Not at typical Kosta Browne with bombastic fruit, but a balanced and well crafted wine!

Beautiful nose of crushed berries, cherries, and pomegranate, dark, cherry, orchard, stone fruit with herbs and spice allspice balances out the nose. The pallet follow suit with the nose of crushed berries and reminiscent of blackberries, blueberries, and an acidic pomegranate. The finish is medium, too short due to the age of over 15 years, but balanced with tenants giving to its age-, giving a satisfying finish.

Nose of crushed blackberries and blueberries with inky mineral undertones. Black pepper, cedar box, smokey fill out the complex character. This a true northern French Rhône. The palate is full black berries, concentrated blueberries, ripe plum with black pepper bacon. A long start, giving the promise of more to come. It does not disappoint-the continuation of a full powerful syrah, with rich loamy soil minerals coupled with fall herbs of basil and thyme. The final finish of Cigar and back bacon pork goes on for ever. This wine is better than my last bottle a year ago.

The nose is predominantly grape fruit-reserved and not expected. Has a purple popsicles smell, with herbs (thyme ) and violet flowers. The palate is minuscule fruit, acid with soft tannins. Decanted for three hours. This wine is in a dumb phase, and does not live up to it’s 98+ points Wine advocate rating. Hold off drinking my other ‘13 for another 5 years.
