This is lovely expression from Claire, and the most complete 2018 across her range that I’ve tasted so far. Dark sour cherries, strawberries, pronounced floral notes. The acidity is there like it always is but not sticking out, it’s also got good weight and fruit density to the finish.

Showing much better than previous bottle back in Jan.
Good weight and structure of fruit leading to light tertiary notes

PnP, cork in perfect condition. A classic nose of slightly green/unripe syrah, smoke and black olives. Tannins gently caress the finish with enough structure to go another decade, but certainly can be enjoyed now. Unmistakable N. Rhone syrah.

Nose: Blackberry and cassis, candied wildflowers. Palate: Noticeable oak that morphs to cedar with more time in the glass, ripe blackberries and thick dark cassis, blackberry liqueur without the alcohol flavor; plush tannins. A very well-structured wine that nicely straddles the line between Bordeaux and Napa, maybe a touch too much wood for me at this stage, but I'm nitpicking...it's very good.

This bottle was in a perfect spot, and in my opinion fully mature. Beautifully fruited it was all enveloping from start to finish. 96+

This Togni is in the perfect drinking window. No need for a long decant, decant and serve. Tons on fruit and no tanin.

Two hour slow ox. A little burly at first but calmed enough with a little more time.

Deep ruby with brick edges on decanting. Gave this 2 hours in decanter. Dark fruit, fig, forest floor, herb. Stunning pair with seared A5 filet with Alishan wasabi, balsamic glazed grilled octopus, seared king oyster “scallop”. Drinking at peak now. Silken tannins, alcohol fully integrated. Just wonderful.

From a perfect bottle, this actually needed some air to come alive. Possessing a deeply aromatic nose, which retained some fruit, the palate showed leather earthy notes with hints of stewed blackcurrant. The only barrier to a higher rating was a lack of depth on the palate and finish.

From a near perfect bottle with an excellent level, the cork came out nearly intact. It was sensational, and liquid velvet on the palate. It enveloped both the nose and mouth with truffle and graphite with wafts of old leather. What an experience.

Very tannic.

Had some nice fruit and chalky tannins on the mid pallate, but became dry and kind of bitter on the finish.

Not bad, but not a big fan of it.

I'll probably check out a more recent vintage to see how it compares.

A full throttle wine that is very well made but pushes outside the typical pinot boundaries at this point, to me. Time may notch this up for what I like.

Pop and pour. Needed lots of air, as it was dark and closed to start. Much better after 24 hrs. On the nose: perfumed black and red fruit, soft mulberry leaf, a touch of secondary gaminess. On the palate: fantastic acidity, soft red fruit, cocoa powder, and very finely grained but dense tannin on the juicy finish. For my palate: this could go for ages. Will try to.follow for a few more days.

Nice ruby color. Fragrant dark cherry berry bouquet. Medium bodied with good concentration. Ripe, round, well balanced. Good flavors of dark fruits, dark cherries, red cherries, red fruits, hints of spice and smoke. Drinks well now but should last at least a few years. Very tasty. Good QPR. Different and well worth trying

This bottle is not oxidized, but not all that good either. Quite high in acid and missing the texture that old vine Carricante usually has. A disappointment.

Took a good 3 hours in the decanter to oxidize the tannins to the point where it really shined. After that it was like a montmorency cherry juice with blackberry and blueberry. Very nice! Too bad it wasn’t ready to drink by dinner time (opened 1.5 hours before).

very dark purple red color, from opening through 3 hours later the nose changes little- dramatically ripe primary cassis, plum and blackberry fruit notes dominate, even so- it is not as overtly sweet as the 2017 La Conseillante sampled a few days ago, oak and bell pepper notes are evident but fully hidden by the fruit, on the palate similarly opulent and dramatic with waves of ripe cassis, remarkably fresh and exuberant, chocolate, cherries, blackberries and with time in glass a good firm chalk and stone streak right down the middle to balance out, fine long finish with classic cassis and shrub notes, substantial tannins largely coated by the fruit, while this is unusually fruit driven it avoids the excesses of some of its peers and is a far cry better suited for long term cellaring than most 2003s, while still largely hidden- the structure and savory elements are all here and in proper balance, this will need some time to fully develop but remains today quite an approachable and fun experience, think of it as a bigger and slightly riper 1989, a top vintage for this storied chateau.

Opened in memory of winemaker Craig Becker's untimely passing. Rest in Peace. Pop and pour, opened up over an hour. Super delicious, tastes like it's from young vines but well made and balanced with fine herbs and aged red fruit. Not nearly as intense as the Cabernet Sauvignon but a screaming value if you can find it. Thank you Craig.

Totally surprising. I won’t go into the details of my discovery of this quirky but genuine and passionate project (though it’s a good story)…
This, my final bottle and a stark contrast to all of the other bottles, save for those tasted at the…winery (if you can call it that). This one opened with only a hint of the barnyard that quite literally, defines this project. What was so surprising was the overt but sneaky fruit component, which didn’t fully shine through until the last 1/3 of the bottle. A really earthy, macerated, ripe, dark red fruits on the nose (not quite a strawberry soda but maybe a strawberry balsamic coulis); more briary wild brambleberry flavors. Really enjoyable and more than enough to push me to order, with the next mailing list offer.

Surely, Champagne can benefit from considerably long lees contact, but this doesn't mean all cuvee is suitable for it. My first impression of this 2005 cuvee was that its distinctive spicy and reserved fruit characteristics are appealing (similar to oxidative style) but done with sacrificing freshness and fruit. This observation is based on extremely short tasting.

Medium ruby. Medium aromatic intensity. Red cherry, raspberry, thyme, cured meat, leather, blackberry. Dry. High alcohol. Medium+ body. Medium coarse tannin. Medium+ intensity. Fruit has a candied, jammy quality on the palate; likely from the high alcohol.

Lots of butter and oak with hints of Lemon. The palate has weight and a long finish. Nothing off and no detectable bitterness from the hot vintage. Typical low so2 Jadot style of being open on the palate despite the age. There's a lack of fruit and minerality at the moment but could show better with some age. Really nicely done and a fun california style of chardonnay.
