As will happen at parties, especially with 14 people, is that after dinner, we somehow wound up in my wine cellar. While we killed off the remnants of a 1963 port, sampled a Hundred Acre Port, and killed of a 1938 Armagnac, we also popped and poured this baby. C'est la vie. It was infanticide. The wine is in a closed period. Don't drink for at least another 5 fives.

A good value Cab. Black fruit and leather on the nose. Flavors of cherry, leather and pepper. Dry with smooth tannins and medium body

Drank this over a couple of days. I didn’t notice the oak at first but by the third day it was similar to a rioja. Very nice evolution.

I really missed the mark on this bottle in my last review. I had tried it at a party, after sampling several other wines, and scratched a quick review based on that. I really liked it. Opening a second bottle now, I realize that this is a cocktail wine, a bomb. It's good. quality, not supermarket stuff, but a bit of residual sugar and lacks any sort of complexity. One can drink this without food and enjoy it in place of a cocktail, but you're not getting much complexity.

Replete with purple fruit, honey, some Tonka Bean on the nose. But other than that, it's very closed up. At the very least, this wine could also use more time in bottle, and I think there will be an improvement.

It's enjoyable, but it's not the showstopper that I originally thought that it was. But again, with 28-months in some new French oak, this could also use more time in bottle as it was basically bottled about a year ago.

Generously shared by tasting partner; delicious tertiary notes throughout; savory, boeuf bourguignon, worcestershire, autumnal glory. Loved it! 93+

Medium dark,
Plummy, ripe, smooth, lightly floral.
Silky soft, open knit, fleshy structure. Loads of ripe dark berries, hint of well integrated oak spice, violet floral notes, delicious drinking now but might benefit from a few years to develop some tertiary notes.

This is a lovely champagne. It paired incredibly well with my friend Greg's oysters with an orange spice mignonette. The oysters were divine, and champagne was the perfect match pre-dinner.

Beautifully mature tertiary burgundy with sous bois, strongly fruited, autumnal and nicely complex; big-boned Beze and nicely put together with underlying power. Only quibble might be the touch of some drying tannins still hanging in there. Still an excellent bottle. 93+

This was fantastic. A spectacular wine. Wonderful fruit. Perfectly balanced. Right square in its drinkability window. Paired incredibly well with the slow-cooked beef short ribs with porcini mushroom sauce, which I cooked for 5 1/2 hours. This wine spoils you and makes you think all wines should taste like this. Wow!!

Double decanted 3 hours prior to dinner. Purchased on release and resting in a cold, dark cellar for 20 years, this bottle was still showing quite a bit of black cherry, red currant, a bit of tobacco leaf and earth, and a slight hint of oaky vanilla. The dark ruby color was showing just a touch of age at the rim. The tannins are fully resolved, and I expect this medium-bodied and well-balanced Bordeaux will hold at this level for 10+ years.

For me, quite the experience as I've kept this bottle in a wine cellar for most of the last 18-ish years. For most of that time, the wine cellar was a large wine refrigerator. It kept well.
Large, jammy, super well-balanced, and should be good for the next decade-plus, if well kept.

Lemon rich colour.
Bright and zesty fragrance.
Rich with impressive structure, lemon zest, hint of tropical richness, lifted floral notes and mineral spice. Powerful finish, needs a few years to soften up.

Dark and concentrated like a Bordeaux. Superb nose that does not require much effort to be noticed. I coravined this and decanted for 2 hours in glass. This is a pleasure to drink and I'll update more as I have more glasses.

I've enjoyed a number of these in the past few years, they have a small round Sotheby's label on back stating "2016 acquired from the cellar of William Koch". Wine is consistent with previous bottles, deep, classic rich fruit stuck a bit between secondary and tertiary stages; savory with beetroot, some paste shoe polish richness, root beer and umami qualities. Plenty of life in it yet. 92+

PnP, and this beauty was ready to drink. No air time necessary. Beautiful nose followed by a smooth, flavorful attack of fruit and fine tannins with just a hint of oak. Great mouthfeel and lift, nice finish. Very enjoyable by itself and with the Memorial Day cheeseburgers.

Nose: green apple, brioche, hints of fig, creme brulee, citrus, nutty, sesame, plum
Notes: Krug ID 214041, a 37% Pinot Noir, 39% Chardonnay, 24% Pinot Meunier. Very well balanced Champagne with a wonderful nose of brioche and bread crumbs. Well balanced and elegant, this Krug is drinking wonderfully. Solid backbone and good acidity here. This Champagne is drinking very nicely now but shall continue to age gracefully for the next decade. Vintage Krug is usually quite nice and I've enjoyed this a lot.

It was a bit tighter than I expected. Very classic Sangiovese from Tuscany. Nose is a touch smoky and tobacco’s subtle, but slightly floral. Cherry front notes with a very velvety mild palette and nice long finish. Tannins are muted but still structured after a few hours open.

I left the last pour open overnight by accident and it’s still very good. The mid pallet was sold so that’s why I think it will still get better.

It’s a great wine

Tasted blind: Deep purple color; ripe red fruit nose, darker fruited palate. Still quite secondary with rich dark fruit and loads of spices, had me guessing Vosne Romanee; mid to late plate some acid bursts forth to really magnify the fruit into a long finish. Super for what it is, could only have asked for a little more complexity.

Tasting at Trius, and I have to say I wasn't impressed with the service. It felt too corporate at this winery, with rushed tastings and it was too crowded. Aromas of plum, blackberry, bell pepper, oak, and a hint of cassis. Flavours black fruits, bell pepper, and oak spice finish.

This Gamay wine, 50% of which was aged for 10 months in old barrels, comes from a plot with granit soil classified in Chénas appelation (Beaujolais). Cork was popped 30 minutes prior to the tasting. Then it was enjoyed in a splendid and perfectly appropriate ‘Zieher Vision Balanced’ stemmed glass. On the nose, reduction notes which struggle to fade, gourmet scents of red fruits on a seductive floral background, as well as what I identified as a subtle but very classy touch of spiced wood. Light-bodied but fleshy and juicy, the palate delivers lots of cherries and raspberries, aromatic herbs, some spicy flavors with small velvety tannins and a mineral tone giving dynamism and freshness. Blinded, I immediately thought of the Morgon Côte du Py produced by Foillard. However, a clear difference appeared on the aftertaste: the bitters seemed a bit more pronounced but I wonder if it wasn't the mineral imprint that tricked my analysis. Not easy to answer. However, what I remember perfectly is that I liked this wine very much: the price/pleasure ratio is really beneficial. I will definitely buy more. Highly recommended!

Earthy aromas with hints of plum and bell pepper on the nose. The wine has a tight structure with high tannins. I think this will score higher with more age.

Tight on the nose and tongue, these showcase wines need more time in the bottle or a good protein meal. Earthy aromas mingle with pepper, black fruits, and cherry. Flavors are a bit watery, with notes of bell pepper and tomato leaf.
