12/29/2016 - RobSpectator wrote: 91 pointsOk, almost 2017 and this wine is still holding well. Minimal sediment, not past peak and still strong. It was cellared at 51 Fahrenheit and 65% humidity. Balance is excellent with good acid structure. Dominant red licorice marker on the nose. Standard Sonoma Pinot markers on the pallet ... Coca Cola cherry, raspberry and mild cinnamon spice. Probably will pass peak in the next year or so. |

12/25/2016 - RobSpectator wrote: 91 pointsI would consider uncorking in 2017 or 18 at the latest. This wine still drinks well but has softened with tannins and acid structure. The nose is still impressive but the wine is starting to lack a bold quality it had years earlier. |

11/26/2016 - RobSpectator wrote: 91 pointsGave this wine a 95 pt rating years ago and perhaps that was overzealous. Still an excellent Pinot that pleased folks at the Thanksgiving dinner. Smooth but tempered fruit after 9 years of age. The wine still have a year or two until peak. |

3/30/2016 - RobSpectator wrote: 93 pointsA complex, well structured wine. Alcohol is at 16% but you'll feel it more than you'll taste it. High sugar content is likely reflective of the Syrah berries grown in a very hot climate which translates into a lot of fruit on the palate. The Aussie terroir is evident and aromatics include blueberries, blackberries, some cassis and spice. Evident Oak toasting is there. The finish is long. Is this a No.2 WS wine? Perhaps but I would want to assess if in a few years and then another few years. Two bottles left to do so. |

3/27/2016 - RobSpectator Likes this wine: 93 pointsNo decanting, right out of the bottle this excellent. Sweet aromas of strawberry, fruit spice cake, and freshly ground light coffee. Smooth entry on the palate showing great balance between acid and fruit. Tannins have subsided significantly. Strong finish with lingering spice notes and licorice. |

1/11/2016 - RobSpectator Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis wine drank exceptionally well and is an excellent value when compared to CA bordeaux style blends. What I liked also is that the wine didn't have that big, characteristic CA Cab fruit bomb characteristic. Rather, it was well balanced and there were nice elements of forest floor and herbs de province. Clearly, the standard dark berry markers were there but nicely balanced with earth, minerals and oak. Solid finish with good length. |

12/20/2015 - RobSpectator wrote: 79 pointsUnidimensional wine. No complexity and weak finish. I didn't finish the bottle and am not surprised by the $9 drop in price point to $14. Definitely not worth $23. Even at $14, I would add another $7 and get an Allegrini or different Ripasso. |
