Opened for my wife’s 40th birthday. Purchased at auction and the wine was in wonderful shape.

Clear rim and slight bricking. Anise, cassis, red fruit, vanilla, dill, herbs, light floral notes on the nose. Palate leaned into red fruit with the herbs and vanilla. The fruit was amazingly fresh for a bottle of this age. Still a lot of structure with quite a bit of acid and supple tannins.

I’d probably have guessed this wine was 20 years old if I had tasted it blind. It is aging so gracefully. Took about a half hour to open up. Stayed in a really nice spot for 2-3 hours then the fruit started to fade.

Black and red fruit, cedar, cigar box, dried flowers, spice, pepper, vanilla, minerality. Strong tannin and acid. Mid weight on the palate. High alcohol. Finish is rather short and tart. This wine should be in a great drinking window for the next 10 years.

This wine is in a great place and is likely to hold here for a few years. I’m quite sad this is my last bottle.

Nose shows mostly black/blue fruit with a hint of strawberry coming through, pepper, spice like a BBQ rub, cedar, and a hint of secondary earthiness coming through. The palate leans more to the red fruit, with lots of spice, pepper. The finish starts off with bright red fruit (almost sweet in character) that lingers for quite some time with that spice coming through later. Quite a long finish. Medium tannin and acid. Everything is so well balanced.

Very similar notes to the last time. Maybe a touch more of the secondary earthiness coming through. But still quite a lot of the fruit in the drivers seat.

Strawberry, raspberry, earth, mushroom, and some green/herbal note I can’t quite place on the nose. This all carries to the palate. Quite of bit of acid. Medium+ length on the finish.

This wine is in a great spot right now with secondary coming in but still has a healthy dose of beautiful Pinot fruit.

Bright apple, tropical pineapple and mango, herbal/mint notes, slight florals. Palate adds some stone fruit, light spice notes. Full mouthfeel. Bright acidity. Long mineral driven finish.

Third bottle from a case from our oldest child’s birth year, celebrating double digits for him now.

As I write this note we are 6.5 hours from the wine being decanted. The nose has evolved constantly while it’s been open. The structure of the wine is still pretty big. Lots of tannin and this bottle seems more acidic than previous ones. But everything is in balance.

Black raspberry, plum, anise, spice box, orange zest, sage, graphite, cedar, light florals.

Finish is a bit shorter than I’d like to see.

The wine is starting to get a light rim, but everything else is still showing quite young. This is in a great spot right now. I believe this wine still has a long life ahead of it.

Very good now but will probably really hit its stride in 5 years or so.

Nose has anise, candied strawberry, florals, vanilla, baking spice, pepper. This all carries nicely to the palate. Lots of tannin and acid. Long spice finish.

Black tea, strawberry leather, pomegranate, spice. Quite tannic. Good acidity. Long finish. I’d definitely recommend to hold this longer to let it all come together better. But it is quite good right now.

An elegant wine. Still young, fresh, and vibrant. Fig, strawberry, pomegranate, some baking spice, earthiness. Lively on the palate. Great acidity. Well balanced. Everything carries over nicely to the finish.

Quite complex nose with raspberry, pomegranate, black tea, mushroom, earth, oregano, sage. This all carries nicely to the palate. Good acidity. Medium+ length finish is quite tart (in a good way) with a lot of the red fruit flavors lingering.

Very good wine. Picked it up on a whim. Will be buying more.

Quite reductive, heavy matchstick note on the nose. Some red fruit, vanillla, spice, oak coming in underneath it.

Quite a bit of structure on the palate with a zip of acid and decent tannin. Strawberry, raspberry, a bit of spice and that sulfur note.

Finish is long though a hair bitter.

This is my first Sandhi. Would be more interesting if the reductive quality had blown off. I think this has upside with more years in the bottle.

Red currant, raspberry, black raspberry, anise, vanilla, baking spice, a bit of forest floor. Still quite acidic and tannic. This still has 5 years of upside and likely several good years after that. So sad this is my last one.

Mushroom, thyme, oregano, forest floor, tart red berry, floral elements, higher acid, high tannin for a Pinot, crazy long finish. This is a phenomenal, savory Pinot.

This wine is incredibly expressive on the nose with a dense core of dark berries and plum, rounded out with chocolate, vanilla, dark roast coffee.

This all carries to the palate with the addition of some black tea notes and the oak quite present.

Lots of tannin and decent acid. Long finish with tart blackberry.

Decanted two hours before dinner…should have done three or four. This wine has good upside potential and at least another ten years of good life.

This wine I think is in an odd spot. Haven’t tasted it since it was current release at the winery. We enjoyed it and bought two bottles. This is my first. The wine was incredibly reticent to show anything the first couple hours. We sipped on it for about six. Notes here are from the end.

The nose on this is gorgeous. Red and purple fruit, slight anise, a hint of pastry, high toned herbals. The palate has some really muted darker fruits. Tons of structure—tannin and acid are dominant. The mouthfeel is very creamy. Finish is rather short. No bricking at all in the color, but it has quite the clear edge.

It seems like the fruit has aged off the palate but the secondary characteristics haven’t started to come in at all. It had a lot of structure to last a long time but just nothing going flavor wise. I have one more bottle and I’m hoping in 5+ years it will start showing well. Need to sit on this one and hope for the best.
