5/14/2024 - stschutz Likes this wine: 96 pointsA wonderfully aged Bordeaux that has all the hallmarks of an even longer life ahead. Ever so tiny bricking on rim but the fruity core is strong and robust. Chocolate mid palate with a lasting finish. Had over crackers and cheese with Katie and Tim. |

Tasted alongside the 2012 Dominus, neither decanted, it held its own impressively for the first hour or so, showing a bit more opulent nose and a brighter flavor profile with some obvious cherry zing. Eventually its big brother began to strut its stuff with air time and it became very obvious which of the two bottles got the exceptional grapes, but for a 12yo second wine this was just pure enjoyment. I think it’s at its peak now, which is why we’ve been drinking up the last few. |

5/13/2024 - DaddyNeedsPow Likes this wine: 94 pointsWonderful stuff! Not decanted, but slowly tasted alongside the 2012 Napanook from the bottle while it aired in our glasses. The nose never really fully bloomed, even after 3 or 4 hours, so maybe decanting is still a good idea, but it only took an hour or so for it to open up to the usual Dominus taste profile, all beautifully integrated, extremely long, and precise clean fruit. |

5/12/2024 - peternelson Likes this wine: 94 pointsStunning aromatic nose of classic cab--tobacco, cassis, leather, cigar box, earthy plum and blackberry with some dark baking spices. Super duper silky and smooth on entry, good lift, very fine tannins, still youthful but very well integrated. This is in a great place now and will keep going for a long time. W/wagyu yakiniku for M's day w/S&L&Q |

5/10/2024 - nywine68 wrote: 96 pointsRemainder of the bottle after first Coravin sample. Drinking beautifully. Smokey nose like a Haut Brion. Tannins alive and well given it a solid structure. Full round dark fruit. Blackberry, eucalyptus and some wet ears on the finish. A nice core of acidity makes this feel 20 years younger than its 40 years. |

5/7/2024 - zimmy07 Likes this wine: 97 pointsI have had this wine 4 times in past 5 months, what a great wine!! same as my last tasting note as from the same case. This has many more years on it, the longer it stayed open the better it got. One of the best examples of great cali wine being made. As always, a complete smokeshow and a stunner! |

5/1/2024 - Big Ted Red Likes this wine: 97 pointsPaired with same vintage Napanook for birthday party. Double decanted and threw a lot of concentrated sediment. Distinctly better than its sibling. A wine to contemplate. Still has some baby fat but lets you immerse yourself in its profundity. |

5/2/2024 - Philip67 Does not like this wine: 90 pointsI found this to be really quite austere. The attractive puppy fat fruit has receded, leaving behind a rather bony skeleton. The fruit does not cover or balance the structure. It lacks charm right now and I don't know whether the structure will soften sufficiently to deliver pleasure in the future. Should have been drunk a decade ago, when the fruit was still big. |

5/2/2024 - Philip67 Likes this wine: 94 pointsStill young. Good restrained red and black fruit. Stylistically this is more Boardeaux than California. There is real depth and length here. There pleasing notes of tar, earth and leather, along with cedar and hints of cake spices. The acidity is quite high and the tannins and firm and grippy. There is some complexity here. Drinking now but will be better in 10 years. |

4/27/2024 - AllRed wrote: 93 points4th Saturday Brown Bagger (R&D's): Double blind. Dark color. Aromas of blue and black fruits, clay and paprika. Full-bodied with medium tannins and flavors of red and black fruit, spice and dried herbs. Twenty minutes in the glass and some swirling coaxes out green tobacco, blackberry and mocha elements. The palate becomes more plummy and dark, picking up a chocolate flavor as well. Quite rich and plush, with a lengthy finish. |

1/11/2024 - smoothjazz Likes this wine: 94 pointsOutstanding wine still after 36 years; opened with a three hour decant and returned to the bottle and taken to the monthly Wine Group tasting. It was really appreciated by the group many which do not have Napa Cabs this old in their cellars. It stood up well with other high end Napa Cabs. |

1994 Dominus Estate Napanook VineyardNapa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend more |
4/21/2024 - Cailles wrote: 100 pointsIt’s no secret that the 1994 vintage always delivers: highly layered, with a great blend of tertiary and fresh aromas, good freshness and tension, pure elegance with beautiful balance, and particularly a lots of drinking pleasure. But this specific bottle set a new benchmark: it had all that and much more: even more expressiveness, an even broader aromatic spectrum down to olives (where did those come from?) and a irresistible hint of brett (at least to my palate), meaty notes, aromatic precision that couldn’t be better and a harmony reaching unthinkable heights. Hands down, this was a perfect Bordeaux, better than every Bordeaux I’ve had in some time, better than all previous bottles of the 1994. A genuine Wow moment, unparalleled and unforgettable. |

4/20/2024 - MC wrote: NRDouble decanted for an hour and then tasted over the following hour. Dark red color showing no age. Ripe dark fruits on the nose. Great fruit on the palate. This wine is concentrated, and with a long finish. Maybe not yet some more interesting secondaries to come but this is drinking well with the decant and red meat and might improve slightly with time but no harm in drinking now with the decant. There were some very good to excellent 2009 Bordeaux in this evening and while this still shows it's New World fruit it does have a nice mix and certainly was among my favorites along with '09 Montrose and Pontet Canet (they too will get better with more time but the Pontet Canet seemed closer to ready than the Montrose). 4/19/2024 - Skotto Likes this wine: 92 pointsIgnoring my last note, popped this with a quick decant and some steaks. This is way too young and doesn’t present the best QPR today, but I’m very confident there’s a flip coming in another 5-10 years when secondary notes come in. This wine is all about quality, finesse and restraint and has potential to be 95+ with time. |

I’ll just say this was fantastic and in great shape after a few hours in the decanter. Truly a great Napa cab that has at least 5-6 years of prime drinking ahead of it, maybe more. |

4/12/2024 - jcampano Likes this wine: 92 pointsDrank side by side a 2017 O’Shaughnessy Mt Veeder, and I must say that the O’Shaughnessy was much better. The Dominus had moderate aromas of red cherry, cedar and graphite. The palate was muted with black cherry and a bit smoky, soft tannins and virtually a 5-second finish. |
