My first experience with this wine. Seemed faded and too light bodied, possibly an off bottle or just not to my palate.

Immensely deep, complex and profound after a ten hour decant.

5/15/2023 9:38:00 AM - I suspect you are absolutely correct, either a much longer decant or several more years of age would probably move this stunner into 99 or 100 territory Thanks!

2002 Vineyard 29 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate

100% Cabernet Sauvignon. 15.5% ABV. 18 months in french oak. I let it breathe for 45 minutes then drank over 2 hrs. Great right out of the gate. Full bodied, pure fruit. Good acidity. Chewy tannins. A long juicy finish. As good on day 2.

Decanted for 4 hours. Magnificent with tremendous depth. Agree with others that this will only continue to improve with time, I would wait a couple of years unless you’re lucky enough to have multiple bottles.

8/24/2022 2:12:00 PM - Well now, that’s the tricky part isn’t it? For a wine this good, I’m willing to gamble the wine will improve more than my taste buds will deteriorate for at least five more years.

Needs long decant or more time. With sufficient air, lovely floral nose and classic Cab Franc flavors.

Brilliant horizontal tasting at the winery. Incredibly rich and seamless for a huge, young red wine, the Le Desir captures the ethereal beauty that is unique to great Cabernet Franc-based wines. Otherworldly and sublime.

2/7/2019 11:20:00 AM - I checked with my host from Verite, and here's his recommendation: For the newer vintages such as the 2014 and 2015’s, I would suggest decanting the wine for at least two hours prior to serving. Of course, you can help the wine along by also doing a double or triple decant. If you happen to have one of our older library vintages, the amount of decant time decreases to about thirty minutes.

2013 Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

Napa / Sonoma more

I had this wine on the heels of a 2015 Pride Reserve. Big step down, even after considering the relative QPR. Decanted for 2 hours, strong notes of black cherry and spice, but with an almost bitter finish. I’m a huge Pride fan, but this particular bottle was a bit disappointing.

9/18/2018 11:29:00 PM - I’m similarly baffled by the nosedive in quality among the sub-Reserve Pride Cabs and Merlots over the past few years. It’s almost as if they’re trying to emulate the hollow, astringent style of cheap Bordeauxs. Their 2012 and 2013s should have been wonderful, but I’m just going to ignore mine for a few more years and hope for a transformation.

2012 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 40th Anniversary

Napa Valley more

Sweet, pruney and simple with virtually no structure. I can't see this wine going anywhere positive, it just doesn't have the stuffing to evolve. A sad showing from this splendid winery. Parker's 96 rating is inexplicable and very worrisome. Tasted three times from three different cases over a five week period with consistent results.

11/22/2014 9:42:00 AM - I'm confident these weren't 3 bad bottles. I tasted once at a friend's house, once at a wine store tasting, and once at a Caymus dinner hosted by their Texas distributor. I'm normally a huge fan of the Caymus reds, in fact the 2001 Special Select is one of my all time favorites. Ironically, it is also a Parker 96.
