1 bottle bought as part of my 60th birthday case.
Opened and decanted to remove fine sediment.
Cork - clean as a whistle with no signs of age.
Dregs poured and sniffed.
Amazingly still some primary fruit - think dark red / black fruits like plum and cherry. Soon gives way to notes of stewed dark fruits.
Poured a glass after 30 minutes from the decanter.
Strikingly clear, medium intensity and garnet in colour. At 28 years old holding up well.
On the nose more cooked fruit, leather, with a spicy herbaceousness. From the Cab Franc perhaps?
On the palate, more dark fruits, spice, a touch of soy/ hoisin(?) with a rich, long finish.

Will see how it develops over the evening.

After two hours, and a couple of glasses, the nose has shifted with some violet, cut flower notes, but then so has my perception! With a bit of tobacco on the palate.

In terms of PQR, I had a Pessac-Leognan 2010 from Haut-Bergey for a fraction of the price that offered more than enough for my amateur palate.

However, all things considered a lovely wine.
This is not a wine to analyse but to savour and enjoy, to bask in how it makes you feel, not what you think about it.
