12/25/2023 - Jhalpern27 Likes this wine: 96 pointsWas the star on Xmas, paired with tenderloin and following 2018 Realm BTK. This was on point tonite and in a perfect place. I wish I had more. The corks should be popping on these babies |

2006 Château Pontet-CanetPauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more |
3/31/2024 - tropa56 Does not like this wine: 89 pointsI am often disappointed with Pontet Canet and this time was no different. Read some nice reviews so I bought a couple bottles. Decanted around an hour and drank slow. Nose was very nice. Typical Paulliac with cassis, graphite and some black fruits. Palate was almost dead. Nothing in the middle and kind of aggressive acid on the finish. Maybe needs more time? Feel like this wine is over hyped, commanding almost second growth money, but I am usually not impressed. I actually like 06 Bordeaux but not this one.

1995 Joseph Swan Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Steiner VineyardSonoma Mountain more |
3/17/2024 - Kloseframe Likes this wine: 95 pointsWow. Purchased from the winery direct in 2023. This was outstanding. Of course they are known for the zins and pinots, but for me, man does Swan do wonders with cab too. Until now, I'd only ever had the Trenton Estate cab, but this Steiner one was nearly perfect. Delicious mountain fruit (and still fruity at 29 years!), a lovely acidity runs through it. My only complaint is that the finish is relatively short -- long, I would say, in general, but short for Swan and given how balanced and full-flavored this wine is otherwise. I'd call it a medium finish where, if it had been a longer finish it would be a 98-100.

11/9/2023 - Jhalpern27 Likes this wine: 91 pointsI like it, however I don’t know if I’m as gang busters about it as the rest of the reviews, Time will only tell. I sure hope so, as I went long and bought two cases. Right now it is a solid 91 with a short 15 min splash decant. This definitely has a ton of room to only improve from here.

2018 Realm Cellars The BardNapa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend more |
11/23/2023 - CaptainBert Likes this wine: NRDrank alongside a bottle from 2009. Fruit and acid bomb upon PnP and tasted along with way to a 4hr decant. Balsalmic cherry and blueberries on the nose. Blueberry dominates the palte. Love the acidity in this. Drinks a little one dimensional and slightly rough around the edges. Light oak and spice. Very dry finish. Needs a few more years IMO

2009 Château CanonSt. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend more |
4/10/2023 - Jhalpern27 Likes this wine: 93 pointsQuick 30 min decant. Needed another 30 min in glass to really open up from 375. Will wait on my remaining bottles. I think it will improve.

2016 Château BeychevelleSt. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend more |
2/2/2023 - Brian of Mull Likes this wine: 95 pointsOpened for 3 hours. Color is very deep ruby/purple. On the nose: plum, cassis, dark chocolate, espresso and graphite. The nose really fills up the room. On the palate: Plum, cassis, dark chocolate and graphite. Fantastic wine. Young but already excellent.I have been drinking older Beychevelle’s and loving them but this one is singing.

2006 Château Pontet-CanetPauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more |
2/7/2023 - Jhalpern27 Likes this wine: 94 pointsDrank this tonight as a vertical 2006, 2009 & 2016. All three opened with a similiar nose. The 06 and 09 were great from the start and the 09 kept getting better and better as the night went on. It took the 16 about 3 hours to come around and is going to be great someday, it still needs 4-6 years to really hit its stride. The 06 after an hour was spectacular, just not quite as good as the other two. Definitely worth drinking now if you’re holding bottles.

1/18/2023 - burlingtonm Likes this wine: 94 pointsVertical of Lynch-Bages from 1989 to 2018, this showed the best of the vintages from 2014 to 2018 on the night: delicious with great concentration and lovely fruit.

1/21/2023 - mcflytfc Likes this wine: NRI opened one so you don't have to. Put it back in the cellar and grab something older, this needs more time. Tannins for days, acidity to last decades, a beautiful wine to come.

2019 Aubert Chardonnay CIX Estate VineyardSonoma Coast more |
1/20/2023 - Jhalpern27 Likes this wine: 91 pointsEnjoyed with some friends last weekend. This is a very well structured Chardonnay and has depth. I just feel Aubert is getting very expensive and there are just so many other great wines at half the price. I need to consider if I want to even stay on the list at these prices.

From memory we did a short decant. Probably 20-30 min. This was ready to go almost right out of the bottle.
