Pop and pore. Classic Prum and a delicious bottle. Zippy acids, stone fruit, saline, minerals. Really strutting it's stuff right now and not sure it will shut down anytime soon. Outstanding bottle.

Hoping this one comes together over time. Oak and menthol on the nose and a bit thin on the palate. Better on day two so maybe just maybe. Hold until 2027.

Under diam. Popped and poured. Fragrant nose with notes of sea breeze and hints of flowers. Creamy on the palate which compliments the characteristic crisp acids of the vintage. Notes of citrus, mineral, and stone fruit on the palate. Served alongside the H. Boillot version. Both were quite good with the Bouchard being slightly more generous.

5/27/2022 1:44:00 PM - Hi there. Diam is an alternative closure that is a type of artificial cork. White Burgundies that are under diam have a much better success rate against being pre-moxed. I hope this helps.

Surprisingly open, but in a lovely way - with banana on the palate and terrific acidity. Guesses were for a 2010 or 2014 Chassagne 1er.

Popped and poured off and let breath for a few hours before drinking as part of a blind tasting. Classic left bank Bordeaux with cedar and some earthy elements on the palate. The palate is rich with ample dark fruit while the texture is pure bliss. This is a freak wine and far outperforms the vintage. No harm in drinking these now but there this wine will drink well for another ten to twenty years.

Popped and let breath for a few hours before enjoying with dinner and a glass after. The wine still early on the maturity curve and no signs of pre mox. Citrus tones on the nose and on the palate. A hint of reduction. Good depth. A lovely wine and good very good for its level.

6/4/2020 3:21:00 PM - Thanks for your comment srh. I would recommend leaving these in cellar for a few more years as they are still early in maturity and aren’t showing signs or pre mox. Better yet, serve a Chassagne.

I’m not sure what’s going on here. Perhaps it will develop over time but last night this one was thin and shut down. Popped and put the wine in a decanter and it didn’t budge over three hours. I hope I remember to leave my remaining bottle for 10 years. Perhaps the wine was flawed in some way.

Rayas wines age so effortlessly at any level. This is no exception as it has hardly budged since my last bottle more than two years ago and is drinking incredibly young for a Cote du Rhone at age 13. Stunning fruit perfume and a delicious balance of fruit, mineral, acid and tannin that remains. On day two it all integrates with a pillowy soft texture.

Pop and pour. One of the rare occasions where the palate completely outperforms the nose. Very reticent nose not giving much at all. Gorgeous resolved palate with seamless texture and secondary earthy flavors. Still retaining notes of dried fruit as well. I'd say to drink these up as it seems to me that this wine is at peak or on a slow decent.

  • Comment posted by EhrlichDY:

2/2/2017 8:31:00 AM - I think our perception of the wine was similar although you got more primary fruit. I have another bottle so I can test your theory vs. mine by waiting 5-10 years before I open it. I tasted the 1990 which was glorious but I suspect it was also reconditioned which led to it's youthful showing.

2/2/2017 9:53:00 AM - Perhaps I misjudged the evolutionary stage of this wine. It was really quite good last night and was also resolved and earthy.

Maureen double decanted this in the morning and we drank it with dinner. Fully mature with all of the elements in the wine melded together. Raspberry fruit, spice, savory elements. Light and elegant on the palate but densely packed with flavor. Well done. Drink now.

  • Comment posted by EhrlichDY:

8/21/2015 6:03:00 AM - There is no sense of urgency. However, out of 750 the wine is mature and ready to drink. I don't see it improving with further aging but it will provide pleasure for another 20 or so years.

Mostly Blind dinner - 88 Krug, 02 Boillot Monty, 02 Laurent CdB, 89 Palmer, 96 Yquem and etc. (Black Salt, Washington DC): Expressive nose displaying intense sweet black fruit, cassis, lead pencil, roasted coffee bean, ink and a hint of cedar. Excellent concentration, intense cassis fruit driven palate impression, quite chewy, bright acidity, nicely integrated tannins and clean medium finish. Exceptional concentration, bright acidity but the fruit expression is not terribly complex which I attribute to the vintage. Really impressive. My first guess was a ‘00 left bank big boy but not complex and polished enough so went with ‘03 St. Julien for the intensity. Chris B somehow nailed the wine and the vintage. Bravo! It is already very enjoyable but will improve for another ten years minimum.

7/10/2015 12:33:00 PM - The wine was decanted for one hour and then poured into a standard Bordeaux bottle to keep it's identity hidden 12 hours prior to consumption.

1995 Château Duhart-Milon

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more

6/18/2015 - Keith Levenberg Likes this wine: 93 points

I was always puzzled why the short-lived Chinese Lafite fetish extended to Carruades, but not to Duhart-Milon. This was bought not long ago on the cheap and delivers a legitimately Lafite-like experience. A classic Pauillac with the usual cedary aromatics and a pitch-black fruit complexion, even a bit of nuttiness. The texture is slick and glossy and while there is still some tannin here it's mostly smoothed over. Very easy drinkability here and while it may not have the dimensions of Lafite it's got very much the same taste, and even a lot of the elegance.

A 2003 Bosconia Riserva that showed well piqued my interest and I decided to try one of these. i found this wine to be more feminine and based on finesse. It's aged dusty quality was less prominent than the Bosconia. In fact, everything was playing at a lower volume in this wine. Perhaps the wine is in a shy phase or it's just how it is. Tannins are well integrated and this has entered its drinking plateau.

3/10/2015 3:16:00 AM - Harley - Have you tasted it and do you have a different impression? I just read your note and it seems pretty much in line with mine although perhaps the wine is giving a bit more pleasure now than it did a few years ago. There can also be quite a bit of bottle variation with LdH wines.

  • Comment posted by EhrlichDY:

3/11/2015 3:03:00 AM - Hi Harley - I'm now worried that you might be onto something. Let's hope this wine pulls through with time. I agree that this one is disappointing, albeit only at the moment, compared to many other memorable LdH tastings. Maybe this deserves further research, especially with the euro now trading at $1.06.
