Should have decanted, but enjoyable out of the bottle. Dark and rich, no sign of fading.

Still going perfectly well. Some early must and vinegar blew off after a 45min decant, and left a very well balanced and delicate wine with a little grenache pepper still poking through... thang god, this was the third i opened on the night, a 1999 Bordeaux and 2014 Rhone were both gone, turps.... this saved the day.

Should have drank this by my schedule 2 years ago but dropped through the cracks. Still wonderful. Less tannins but smooth as can be. One bottle left and I hope it is good too.

Opening nose of dusty violets, earth very black fruit. Fairly reticent on the attack at first. Then things opened up, a half hour in I'd say. The blue fruit and acidity of the Petite Sirah came a callin'. Plenty of stuffing left here for another few years. Full and rich, like most things under the talented hand of Ben Glaetzer. Very tasty.

Violets, prosciutto, stems, and red fruit on the nose. Nice concentration of sweet and sour juice on the palate with a deft aromatic acid touch at the back. Good with birria and green salad. 50 + 16 + 16 + 8 = 90.

[2 day old bottle] Faded but still generous aromas of red cherry, black pepper, dried flowers. Sweet core of penetrating fruit on the palate, clear acid lattice at the back supporting a long fruit-driven finish. Really a lovely concluding wine for the evening with comte and roquefort. 50 + 17 + 16 + 8 = 91.

In a great place right now, at peak after 2 hours open, sustained through next day. High viscosity, chewy tannins, dark fruit pronounced but well integrated, cocoa, touch of cardomam, really well made wine.

As good as I could have hoped. Next two bottles should improve even more. Too bad my next one is in 2019. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Much better than three earlier tastings (you can refer to two comments I made). The sulphur taste has completely dissipated. Opened 0ne hour prior to drinking. Now is drinking like a luscious full-bodied berry-filled grenache. Yay!

Monthly Men's Wine Dinner (Brunswick & Hunt): Interesting McLaren blend of Shiraz and Petite Syrah. This benefited from air, as it started off thin with a strong raspberry note and put on some weight throughout the evening. #3 of 3 for me and for the group.

Pleasant, a lot more evolved but not necessarily better than one of the bottles I had back in 2013. Consistent with my note back in 2/17, I don't know if more cellaring will make this wine better. Drink up and enjoy!

Needed some air to flesh out. Shows some fading fruit, but has cranberry notes that I find quite appealing. A slight alcohol burn dissipated with time. With an hour+, this put on weight and a spice note complemented a Mediterranean roasted eggplant with onion, chiles, and lemon. At under $16, this was a fine QPR Garagiste buy.

Solid QPR at 30 bucks, but we dranked this after having had a '07 Jaffurs Upslope the night before. It was too high of a bar to follow suit. The Imprimata is a good wine, though, nowhere near the richness, elegance and complexity of the Upslope. Also, I don't know if age has truly helped this wine. The bottle I had back in 2013 seemed much better. Nonetheless, a solid 91.

Dark garnet. Brambles, dark berries, a bit of alcoholic heat on the nose. Sweet core of concentrated juice from front to back, smooth tannins, long finish. Lots of good elements here, but overall a lack of integration and balance. 50 + 15 + 16 + 7.

I note that CO_ROOTS13 has exactly the same decrease in score since 2014 as I do, from a 90 to an 88.

You could do worse on a Monday. Great fruit and acid, with just enough tannins to complete the trifecta. Buy a case at this price and drink it on Mondays. Maybe buy a steak to go with it. Boom.

Night one showing rich intensity and a well structured backbone. Night two the Imprimata had mellowed revealing a vast array of subtle flavors and a richness typical of a world class shiraz. Wow!
