The add by receipt could be a really useful feature but unfortunately most of the wine clubs I purchase from regularly provide receipts via their web sites and add@cellartracker.com was not able to correctly process a pdf print for and online receipt.

Thanks for the feedback.

In fact, as noted in our FAQ: https://support.cellartracker.com/article/75-add-via-receipt

quote:

Limitations: For this phase we support both text/HTML formatted emails but not images or attachments.

So when we say FOR THIS PHASE we man NOT YET BUT WE REALLY HOPE TO ADD IT SOON.

Some people have actually just copied and pasted the PDF contents into an email with good success. But we are working on cracking the PDF directly as part of the receipt input.

Thanks for the suggestion Eric. Cut and Paste into an email worked in so much as the wines names and prices were recognized but I got zero hits in terms of mapping the wines. Interestingly the same wine in my club shipment was also included on my email receipt from the winery and that matched. Is the domain name from the email sender used as part of the mapping process?

Forget that, I was too quick. The mapping has now done.

Interesting! - I had no idea this existed.

I gave it a try and I'd say it works medium well. Is there specific feedback you'd like? Not clear to me whether you want to wade through various retailer-specific topics.

We just added it. As noted in the FAQ, feedback is always welcome to beta@cellartracker.com

It could be on the matching user interface (we know we need work there), the receipt parsing or any aspect. But please to the email.

Thanks for adding a useful new feature. For me right now, the feature has limited application and I would love it if some enhancements were made. I'm sure these enhancements would help others.

Store: The Store values sometimes don't match how I represent the Store in CT. For example, I use "Wine House", while the feature sets the Store value to "The Wine House".

Cost: Tax - it would be good to have a choice of whether or not to include the tax in the per-bottle cost.

Cost: Shipping - it would be good to have a choice of whether or not to include shipping in the per-bottle cost.

Cost: I round to the nearest dollar when entering wines. OK, that's a bit OCD to want it like that for every wine.

(Purchase Note: Sometimes it's nice to have a Purchase Note that applies to all wines in an order.)

Currently, these all require manual intervention to all of the pending-add wines

I could see these as simple tags the user manually enters at the top of the forwarded email.

If you edit a store name, future imports notice that and try to adhere to that form. CT does not track tax and shipping today.

Thank you. That's good to know. I will look out for that to see if it works for me for the Stores in question.

As for tax and shipping, I wasn't suggesting CT add fields / attributes for those, but that a user could determine whether to include them in the bottle price. (If the file reader / parser wouldn't be able to reliably read tax and shipping order sub-totals, there'd still be room for the user to quickly enter them atop the forwarded email.)

This didn't work. When I clicked on the link it brought me to CT, and all the purchase information was correct. But, when I finished, and imported the wines, it changed the producer and wines for 4 of the 6 wines. Now I need to delete and re-enter those 4

Its a great idea, but it needs a lot of fixing.

So we are going to do this here and in our support tool?

The wines were not mapped to the correct wines. You confirmed and then imported them.

We want to make the bulk import UI better, but meanwhile you have to take care on the bulk matching step. It did what you told it to do...

Sorry, I originally responded to the email that was sent to me during the process, not a support "tool" (as far as I know), but then figured this was a better spot. No need to get snarky.

And yes, I missed a line in the bulk import tool that incorrectly mapped the wines to the wrong Producer, despite it listing the producer correctly in the "Store" field. It was an honest mistake, and once I made it I could not go back and look at why it happened since I don't have access to the same back-end tools that you do. I see what happened now. I went back and did it again and was able to re-map to the correct wines

I apologize for my confusion.

No problem, we know the bulk import UI could be more clear.
