Introduction

10 wine lovers gathered at my home
besides bread, cheese & pastrami we enjoyed an excellent chill con carne with olive oil potatoes and rosamrin

  • 2009 Midbar Sémillon 90 Points

    Israel, Negev

    uncorked 9 hours prior to tasting
    excellent ripe fruit nose
    great minerality on the palate with fruits flavours and special balance, quite unusual for a warm climate Semillon - but this one is very good!

  • 2009 Château Gruaud Larose 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

    uncorked 10 hours prior to tasting
    dark opaque red-purple with black tones
    excellent nose of dark fruits with leather and mushroom notes
    full bodied, excellent balance & harmony, dry integrated tannins, structured, complex, dry woody chocolate character, but excellent! great aftertaste and long finish.
    can be enjoyed now but its optimal period is still way ahead.

    after 36 hours: still alive and very enjoyable!

    after 48 hours: the wine became partially oxidised; still drinkable in a way

    uncorked 10 hours prior to tasting
    dark opaque red-purple with black tones
    excellent dark fruits nose with leather and chocolate notes
    full bodied, firm tannins, excellent balance, harmony, structure & complexity. chocolate & dark coffee. mushroom and sous-bois. long excellent aftertaste. can be enjoyed now but its optimal period is still way ahead.

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

    uncorked 10 hours before the tasting
    dark opaque red-purple with black tones
    noble dark fruits nose with leather and wet-earthy notes
    full bodied, soft firm dry integrated tannins, rich, powerful, significant merlot influence, chocolate, well balanced and harmonised, very good structure, complex, enjoyable aftertaste and medium length finish.
    can be enjoyed now but its optimal drinking period is many years ahead.

    dark opaque red-purple with black tones
    excellent dark fruits-earthy-tertiary nose with sous-bois and leather notes of the Merlot part in the wine
    full bodied, integrated firm tannins, rich, powerful, excellent balance & harmony, well structured and complex, chocolate, wet earthy flavours, dry woody character, excellent aftertaste and finish.
    already enjoyable but will continue to improve though the next years

    dark opaque red-purple
    fine quality nose of dark fruits with leather notes
    full bodied, firm integrated tannins, well balanced and harmonised, fairly structured, nice complexity, chocolate, enjoyable aftertaste, medium length finish. Quite enjoyable now, but will continue to improve during the next decade.

    dark opaque red-purple-black
    intense merlot-chocolate nose of dark fruits with earthy notes
    full bodied, firm tannins, well balanced and harmonised, powerful, rich, lot of chocolate flavours with dark fruits, structured, complexed, long rustic aftertaste, tannic finish.
    already enjoyable though still very young and can further age many years.
