Tasted by kbhiggins on 10/28/2013 & rated 88 points: Better than the last bottle. We've had some variability on bottles of this vintage. This bottle came off very clean with nice notes of apple and pear. Very enjoyable. On a standalone basis, I would say this wine has some life left in it, but with the ups and downs we have experienced, we will finish off our last two bottles by the end of the year. (3023 views)
Tasted by kbhiggins on 9/8/2013 & rated 86 points: This bottle wasn't as good as previous of this vintage. Wasn't quite as crispand didn't have the same viscosity of a couple of the previous bottles we have had. (3331 views)
Tasted by kbhiggins on 3/24/2013 & rated 90 points: Best bottle we have had of this vintage. Was nicely balanced with little acidity. Clean and fresh. Notes of apple and pear. (3575 views)
Tasted by subir on 11/23/2012 & rated 86 points: Light gold color, butterscotch, toast on the nose. Relatively high acidity, I could never shake off the wood to get to the fruit, but it was enjoyed by others... (3863 views)
Tasted by WilliamF17 on 8/16/2012 & rated 88 points: APPEARANCE: Bright, Gold Yellow, clear, straw green tints - 4
BOUQUET: Fruit and wood, Tropical fruits, lemon grass, Vanilla, mild oak, reasonably aromatic - 11
TASTE: moderate mouth feel, medium crisp, medium fruit, pear, light-medium body, medium length finish - 13
PREFERENCE: rich Chardonnay flavor and texture, wood sharpness balancing smooth richness - 2 (3955 views)
Tasted by Moxie Marcy on 6/5/2012: Nicely balanced chardonnay. Pear on the nose. Lemon, cream and citrus on palate. A little bit of floral. Not oaky or a butter bomb like some Chards that go through malolactic fermentation. (2168 views)
Tasted by kbhiggins on 6/1/2012 & rated 87 points: We always this the Dijon Clones is very good, although this vintage doesn't seem to be quite on par with the last two. (1970 views)
Tasted by FLI on 5/11/2012 & rated 89 points: This is a bit odd - the fruit was as forward and sweet as I can recall ever having in a Chardonnay. And it was quite tasty. Not too oaky/buttery (as some of these Carneros Chards can be). I think it would be a good choice to serve to non-wine-snobs who say they don't like Chardonnay. It's not at all acidic or sharp, but it doesn't swing into the oaky malolactic heaviness that can mark the other extreme. Well balanced. Just oddly a bit sweet. (1626 views)
Tasted by kbhiggins on 11/13/2011 & rated 88 points: Consistently good across each vintage. (2169 views)
Tasted by wmccone54 on 7/23/2011 & rated 90 points: Very Carneros in flavor profile. Plenty of oak, vanilla, lemon, and pear. Nice balance and mouthfeel, not overly rich but solid for $20. Exhibits a nice long mouth puckering finish. (2269 views)
Tasted by wirelesswine on 3/5/2011 & rated 92 points: I am generally not a california chardonnay fan, but this wine consistently delivers. Big round tropical flavors yet crisp at the same time. Not over malo, not over oaked, just right! (2642 views)
Tasted by rentmp3 on 1/31/2011 & rated 90 points: Trip to Napa Valley; 1/30/2011-1/31/2011 (Napa, CA): Really pretty nose with white flowers, toasted bread, and cream. On the palate, citrus fruits, yeast, very little oak, and no butter. Lovely. (4148 views)
Tasted by ejca on 12/13/2010: Excellent wine, nice complexity, just a touch of oak. (2926 views)
Tasted by Neeners on 2/21/2010: NOT a chardonnay fan, but this isn't that oaky. (3534 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 12/19/2009 & rated 90 points: nose - stone fruit, light butterscotch, floral, smoke
mouth - juicy stone fruit, nimble, and smoky (3474 views)
Tasted by snaff on 12/6/2009 & rated 92 points: Top notch chardonnay with spicy highlights to crisp apple and pear with a vanilla finish. (3543 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

Napa / Sonoma

SONOMA: The Yorkville Highlands AVA, approved in 1998, is located in the southwestern corner of Mendocino County, between Sonoma County's Alexander Valley to the South and Mendocino County!s Anderson Valley to the North. The region is 25 miles long, roughly in the shape of rectangle and bisected by Highway 128 which runs the length of the AVA. The region!s terrain is hilly and forested, with elevations ranging from 1,078 to 2,442 feet above sea level.
The distinguishing features of the Yorkville Highlands AVA are rocky soils with a high gravel content and the climate, which is cooler than Alexander Valley but warmer than Anderson Valley, and significantly cooler at night than the surrounding areas.

Carneros

Straddles the southern ends of Napa & Sonoma Counties.
