 Tasted by GregGH on 4/18/2015 & rated 90 points: Used to be a Shiraz drinker but for most now I dislike them .... This is GREAT .... Aged well ...now an overly sweet fruit bomb (1434 views)
 Tasted by wrmccall on 3/4/2015 & rated 92 points: Wow, this has really aged well. Wish I had more! (1264 views)
 Tasted by Zed57 on 12/1/2013 & rated 92 points: Amazing aromas of blackberry and raspberry with an incredibly smooth and polished taste that almost has a sweetness intermingled with Christmas spice. It may evolve but it is a joy now. (1552 views)
 Tasted by Ridgerunner on 5/11/2013 & rated 92 points: Just a baby really. Rich!

 Tasted by wmccone54 on 2/2/2012 & rated 90 points: Australian Shiraz is just not my thing; most seem to be over the top over oaked, fruitbombs! I have to admit, this is the last of a couple of bottles bought a few years back. Very impressive for a $25 bottle of wine. Approachable with spice, smoke, asphalt, anise and dark berries . Dark and very full bodied with flavors of dark berries, licorice, and vanilla. Smooth tannins support a great long, full finish. (2053 views)
 Tasted by Ridgerunner on 1/18/2012 & rated 89 points: All things considered this was just not ready yet! (1386 views)
 Tasted by wmccone54 on 12/30/2010 & rated 89 points: Plenty of spice with slight hints of asphalt on the nose. Blueberry and dark fruit on the palate. Smooth and balanced with a very mild tannins. Very profound finish that lingers for a while. Definitely a classy effort with a great QPR given the mid $20 price point! (1462 views)
 Tasted by craigstan on 8/27/2010 & rated 92 points: Medium bodied and easy drinking. Lovely nose of chocolate and berry. Palate more of the same with a tang of licorice through the finish. Very impressed. (1674 views)
 Tasted by lumpkins on 5/6/2010 & rated 88 points: drank a little too quickly perhaps - started to open nicely as we finished the bottle. initial nose of plum, spice and pepper. smooth drinking, very lush in the mouth. needs a good hr or more to open up. (1557 views)
 Tasted by linger on 3/2/2010 & rated 88 points: Mkt gott vin & Excelant
Mat till var Entrecote med franskt smör och klyftpotatis med rotfrukter. (1713 views)
 Tasted by anubis on 2/8/2010 & rated 91 points: Birthday wine for my wife. Opened and let sit for 30 minutes, initial smells of spices and pepper. Very dark purple colour. First taste also had spices and pepper and a good length and not a lot of fruit. During dinner of cattleman's cutlets, the wine opened up and became very smooth. Three hours later it was very very smooth. Not sure extra bottle time will improve this wine, but it certainly won't hurt it. [screwcap, 14.5% alc] (1993 views)
 Tasted by tenorselbow on 9/16/2009 & rated 89 points: Nose of freshly sweaty socks and raspberry. Mouth of forest floor, cedar and blueberry. Balanced with good height. Medium length finish of prunes and pine needles. (2120 views)
 Tasted by pgm on 7/29/2009 & rated 90 points: Not as excited as I was about the first bottle, but this is still excellent. More reticent on the nose, just some blackberry and faint brown spices. Great palate, blackberrry, stone, and juicy currant that lingers on the finish. (2201 views)
 Tasted by cvvhrn on 6/7/2009 & rated 92 points: Like many reviewers noted its got alot of fruit. However, its quite a nice wine. I purchased this without looking at reviewed based on a tasting of thier lower end Tadpole. To say I was happy with this wine is an understatement. It reminds mealot of the old Marquis/Phillips before the divorse. Fruit foreward and just a little less alcohol. Hints of leather and dust on the nose with spice, pepper and jam on the palate. The short finish was less noticeable because of the soft mouthfeel. This was simply a really fun wine to drink. (2231 views)
 Tasted by Texas Pete on 5/5/2009 & rated 90 points: Very fruity with a touch of sweetness, nice finish. Enjoyed at Perry's Steakhouse with friends, but at a steakhouse price of $70. Great value at $27-28. (2459 views)
 Tasted by JPoll on 2/23/2009 & rated 89 points: Very nice wine!! (2582 views)
 Tasted by Evil Homer on 1/2/2009 & rated 91 points: Very nice Aussie shiraz. Beautiful purple colour. Nose of violets, orange rind, dark fruit and mocha. Red fruits on the palate with some hints of chocoale. Nice long finish with good balance. Yummy stuff. Will look for more. (2571 views)
 Tasted by mmurry on 12/13/2008 & rated 89 points: Aussie, Aussie, Aussie (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had raspberry, plum. oak, spice, and some cherry. The palate had spice, raspberry, plum, and a cherry finish. (2788 views)
 Tasted by pgm on 11/14/2008 & rated 91 points: Generous but elegant wine, with dense black fruit, baking spices, and a little roasted meat on the nose (which I don't remember ever finding in McLaren Vale shiraz before). Pure black cherry and blackberry fruit on the palate, with some nice brown sugar notes coming on in the finale. Nice value. (2531 views)
 Tasted by Double-A on 9/30/2008 & rated 88 points: Rich blackberry and ginger nose. Full and slick in the mouth; big fruit, long toasty finish.

2006 Gemtree Vineyards Shiraz Uncut

Hand selected from 40 year old vines on our Tatachilla Road vineyard, Uncut Shiraz requires very little intervention. Minimally pruned vines; open fermentation; gentle pressing; and minimal fining and filtration — these are our maxims for producing Uncut Shiraz. Balance in wine cannot be manufactured — it occurs naturally! In this, our 9th vintage as winemakers we have again achieved this balance. The synergy between fruit, oak, acid and tannin in the 2006 Uncut is seamless. Mike's Comment: The 2006 is one of the most restrained wines I have encountered in my 9 years at Gemtree. This is very positive as we can sit back and watch this beast evolve for the next 2 decades.

* Colour Purple.
* Nose Violets, cocoa, mocha, dark chocolate, orange rind, dark berries and savoury oak.
* Palate The 2006 Uncut is jam packed with goodies, a wonderful package of fruit sweetness, oak, tannin and acid. Red berries and chocolate seem to dominate the front to mid palate with well balanced oak tannin and acid supporting the back palate.
* Cellaring Now — 2025.
