| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.9 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 21 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by yaCellar on 6/21/2020 & rated 94 points: At this age, Keefer’s fruity opulence has flipped to a nutty richness. Dried fruits, almonds, praline, with a trace of pear, ripe peach, and crushed marble. Butterscotch dominates the palette. Very luscious, textured mouthfeel. I debated pairing a younger Aubert to tonight’s dinner of rich Sablefish, and while you can’t go wrong there, this pairing was brilliant. (928 views) | | Tasted by Sonoma-W on 11/26/2019 & rated 92 points: Rich, well balanced, some medium oak coming through (906 views) | | Tasted by e-r.portzline on 2/14/2019 & rated 92 points: Beautiful straw colored hues, flinty and earthy scents, elegant finish. Think white burgundy. Lovely. (1122 views) | | Tasted by e-r.portzline on 2/13/2018 & rated 92 points: Asian pear, honeysuckle, magnolia on the nose with hints of rose, honey, pear and apple with a whisper of oak on the palate. Truly a fantastic wine. Drinking in its prime now. The bottle was clear, but the last pour left a wee bit of sediment in the glass. Highly recommended. Delicious. (2039 views) | | Tasted by GTFreek on 2/3/2016: From cooler climate vineyard. 30% concrete egg, rest French oak 15% new. Medium nose shows flowers first, white flowers, white pear, light spice like thyme, citrus peel. Palate fuller bodied, yellow apple, hint of vanilla, green pear, nice layers and lovely subtle style. Balanced very well, finish shows slight power with 14.1% alcohol. Recommend. | Failla Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeKeefer Ranch Details on weinlagen-infoUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
