Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 88.8 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 118 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Doblk on 8/4/2021 & rated 89 points: A few of the rough edges are reduced but much like 5 years ago. Dense, ripe, and hot. Nice mint, cassis, prune, charred meat notes, but the 15% alcohol adds some harshness. (1300 views)
Tasted by Prariecellar on 4/20/2021 & rated 93 points: This is a very interesting wine, but have had some quality issues with maybe corks. When I purchased this wine in 2015, It definitely needed some rack time. So I put it on the shelf. I generally try to put most of the reds I buy on the shelf for 5 to eight years. For the bottles that have survived, I would rate at 93+ for the others, I poured them out. At this point I have poured 2 of 10 bottles out. The bottle we consumed last night was beautiful, with soft tannins and a delicious medium long finish. If I hadn’t had the spoiled bottles, I would say from last nights bottle that it had at least another three years on the shelf. Instead, I f you have this on the shelf, I recommend consuming soon.  Tasted by maxima on 12/24/2020 & rated 88 points: Corsé et capiteux.
Des prunes et des mures avec un peu
d`épices. Les tannins sont serrés et un
peu asséchant.
Finale longue sur la chauffe. (2036 views)
Tasted by Toasty Oak on 12/5/2020: A boldly aromatic, New World style wine with aromas of ripe plum (almost plum sauce), licorice, herbs and mushroom. The palate is lively, with fresh acidity and velvety tannins. The finish is long and tapers out with a note of dried fig and black tea. 55% Grenache / 45% Syrah. Produced exclusively for the American market. (1411 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 9/13/2020 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. Remains youthful and firm, but with plenty of underlying fruit. Could benefit from additional time in the cellar. (1678 views)
Tasted by kdubler on 7/14/2020: FWS Languedoc Roussillon Class 2020; 7/14/2020-7/15/2020: Not a bad wine, everything is technically right on it, but tonight it was my least favorite. Fruit driven with a little mineral edge. But just so clean it was kind of boring. In no way offensive, but also not exciting (975 views)
Tasted by ShaunlovesWine on 5/31/2020 & rated 92 points: Vollreif, jetzt bis max 2021 (843 views)
Tasted by Janstan on 5/22/2020 & rated 89 points: Went well with steak salad with carrots sweet peppers, scallions, field mix and balsamic dressing. Smoke dark fruits (818 views)
Tasted by wine4ever on 5/9/2020: Pleasant and interesting red blend from a lesser known wine region in France. Very good and drinkable now. (785 views)
Tasted by mats13 on 4/15/2020 & rated 92 points: Excellent >$20 qpr. Dark earthy dusty fruit, tannins have smoothed, excellent texture. Give it an hour of air. (952 views)
Tasted by TravisWallace on 3/25/2020: Oxidized. (819 views)
Tasted by ShaunlovesWine on 10/12/2019 & rated 92 points: Great wine at 12 euros. Best after 6 years (1234 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 3/25/2019 & rated 88 points: Nice nose, blue fruits, a little licorice and a little pepper. Fairly rich, with a decent finish, but it was quite one-dimensional. Few, if any clues as to what it is or where it's from. Pleasant and a very good value. Probably time to drink up. (1428 views)
Tasted by Smatk on 11/28/2018 & rated 85 points: Not sure how I came across this bottle. Interesting nose of garrigue, subtle dark fruit, flowers, and licorice. Fairly massive fruit bomb, dark fruit and finish in an international style, could be from anywhere; 15% alcohol. Overall, meh, but not bad when you're in the mood. Paired well with red wine braised beef short ribs with gnocchi. (1668 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 10/12/2018 & rated 90 points: Has lost a little vibrancy since last tasted ten months ago. Still nice nose - black 'n' blue fruits plus a little charcoal. May have gained some heft and viscosity, but the fruit is less in-your-face. Quite rich, with an excellent finish for a wine in this price range. Still a terrific value, but it may be headed downhill. (1615 views)
Tasted by vinsdumonde on 10/7/2018 & rated 89 points: Interesting nose of leather, candied plum preserve and faint vanilla, smooth gentle body w medium length and mild structure (1614 views)
Tasted by Z1nnfull on 9/23/2018 & rated 84 points: We've had many bottles over many vintages of what is usually a stellar Rhone wine blend (OK, it's Languedoc, but they are Rhone varietals). This one tasted a little "off" both the first and second night, so I am thinking it might be a slightly-flawed bottle or lesser vintage year. Have another bottle, so we will give it another try. Normally, this is a 88-90 for us and goes well with food, this one fell short...no depth, hard to pick out the varietals, a bit flat, maybe old? Again, we'll try another bottle. (1502 views)
Tasted by sunalsorises on 5/28/2018 & rated 88 points: Mature fruit. Could use a little bit more acidity on the finish. Not bad. (1591 views)
Tasted by tadams66 on 3/8/2018 & rated 90 points: In a really good spot right now. Gave it about 30 mins and then drank over the next couple of hours. Very nice fruit and a medium finish. Great QPR (1534 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 3/4/2018 & rated 90 points: Popped and drunk over 2+ hrs. Inky purple color. High-toned, perhaps the slightest bit a VA and a touch hot. Cassis, black raspberry, violet and blackberry jam aromas. The VA note blows off. Picks up a nice white pepper spice note. Medium tannins are fine and sweet. Flavors of black raspberry, chambourd, blackberry and plum. Hints of vanilla in the finish. 90+ pts. I wish I had saved two or three to follow over the next two to ten years. (1503 views)
Tasted by jeginmt on 2/8/2018 & rated 93 points: My last bottle. My impressions remain the same as I previously posted. An excellent Rhône style wine. (1475 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 2/3/2018 & rated 89 points: Consistently a good value. (1378 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 12/29/2017 & rated 91 points: Exceeded my expectations by a big margin. Black and blue fruits on the nose, with a whiff of charcoal. Humongous blueberries on the palate. Very viscous, but with decent acidity. Fabulous finish. A big boy, but not ponderous. In a blind tasting, I would have guessed a very good New World Syrah. (1260 views)
Tasted by ShaunlovesWine on 12/27/2017 & rated 92 points: Young, fruity, black berries, best from 2018-2020 (1105 views)
Tasted by F_&_M on 12/11/2017 & rated 90 points: Superb! Very chocolatey. Great weight. Complexity. And amazing value. (1407 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
