The nose bears some resemblance to what I find in riesling from the Eden Valley in Australia, featuring lime and minerals. Some spritzig is a good sign (screwcap closure, by the way). Concentrated lime and yellow citrus flavours, but there is a part of it that suggests some botrytis-affected fruit got in the vat as well. Dry, with a long and pungent finish. The acidic spine and volume of fruit suggests this could handle another five years cellaring. There's potential to make fine wine here, I think, but today very good plus. Really good, and always excellently made, Verus produces some outstanding wines, despite the value. I'm impressed that the back of the label states the wines come from "some of the greatest white wine vineyards in the world".
