Community Tasting Notes (average 88.9 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 55 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by gallu on 6/26/2021 & rated 91 points: 91 Se nota la evolución del color, capa media. En nariz hay ciruelas compotadas, aceituna negra, caja de puros. Boca fresca, interesante, bastante largo y con buena acidez. No cansa, a pesar de las notas de fruta compotada. Buen vino. (527 views)
(875 views)
Tasted by samguiton on 1/13/2017 flawed bottle: Passed drinkability window. Do not recommend. (2019 views)
Tasted by Windrush on 6/23/2012 & rated 87 points: Better / less faded than the previous bottle - arguably still near its peak. Drink up though. (4623 views)
Tasted by Windrush on 6/22/2012: Not nasty but well past its prime now (4296 views)
Tasted by KellyM on 2/26/2012 & rated 92 points: Was too candied for my taste in May 08 & July 09 (scored it more like 86-87 in '08), but has really come together. Still very fresh and fruity, but elegant rather than candied. Excellent structure and balance. (4276 views)
Tasted by Zingrrl on 11/28/2010 & rated 88 points: Screw top bottle. Bit of sediment at the top - smelled exactly like Welch's grape jelly. Hmmm. Pretty dark rose in color with clearing at the edges. Nose of light raspberry, roses, vanilla and dust. Cherry on the start, briars on the mid pallet with a little spice. Long finish. If it changes significantly over the next hour, I'll update. (4711 views)
Tasted by markas101 on 7/28/2010 & rated 88 points: Drank with Brett, July 2010, no notes taken but enjoyed. (3925 views)
Tasted by vinaigre on 7/1/2010 & rated 89 points: Deep ruby red, purple edges. Nice nose of blueberry jam, vanilla and cherries. On the palate a mix of cherries and blueberry jam with a nice smooth texture. A bit acidic still, would need a bit more time to smooth out (If ever). Nice medium-plus length. Not too complex, a good quaffer. (2704 views)
Tasted by Edzo on 12/16/2009 & rated 89 points: Decanted for a little over an hour, this brought out aromas of leather and dark fruits. Black cherry in particular. The velvety mouthfeel was acompanied by more black cherry. Medium bodied well balanced wine. The finish brought a touch of spice and was medium in length. Overall a nice drinking simple wine right now with little notice of tannin amongst the fruit. (2679 views)
Tasted by KellyM on 7/25/2009 & rated 86 points: Some good fruit, but very jammy and unbalanced. Had a bottle a year ago and it was the same. Have a few more, but not looking forward to them - age doesn't seem to be improving it. (2915 views)
Tasted by michelvl on 5/23/2009 & rated 91 points: Consistent with my previous notes. (2883 views)
Tasted by greenwalter on 2/5/2009 & rated 89 points: Not complicated but very enjoyable. Concentrated fruit and leather. A few years has aged this and mellowed the welch's grape jam aspect. An easy drinker and well in balance. (3022 views)
Tasted by Alcide23 on 12/2/2008 & rated 88 points: Lots of dark berry fruit, almost sweet, modern, too much vanilla and oak. Nice wine but not my genre (3020 views)
Tasted by davergny on 11/14/2008 & rated 87 points: Vibrant, heady wine. Black raspberries, sous bois, a little syrupy, but good length and long, sour cherry finish. Enjoyable. (3191 views)
Tasted by wahoo70 on 10/18/2008 & rated 90 points: Popped and poured at Wine Styles, a nice wine bar in Heron Bay/Parkland, FL. Very aromatic, with lots of red fruit, but also pepper, spice, and lovely herby/gamy/leathery old world notes, which followed through into the delicious flavors. Great midpalate, and lingering, slightly chewy finish. Improved greatly as it opened up. Delicious GSM (grenache, syrah, mataro = mourvedre). (3113 views)
Tasted by rikipedia on 10/6/2008 & rated 88 points: Terroir-istes International - France, Rhone, Gigondas (Rodwell House): Pleasant aromas of peppermint, mulberry and ripe raspberry. no oak noted.
Soft entry with clear fresh fruits, broad mid-palate shape with plenty of red fruits and a sprinkling of pepper. Seems very generous with hot, fiery alcohol, yet the finish is long and the wine quite alluring! (142 views)
Tasted by michelvl on 9/7/2008 & rated 91 points: Consistent with my previous notes, however slightly more mellow. (3031 views)
Tasted by michelvl on 6/29/2008 & rated 91 points: Consistent with my previous notes (3155 views)

Tasted by LAWalker on 2/23/2008: outstanding (3433 views)
Tasted by dfeiner on 2/5/2008 & rated 91 points: Pure hedonism. (3624 views)
Tasted by yui on 11/19/2007 & rated 92 points: Wow, reminded me of a Saxum's James Berry 04. Nose of wet stone raisins. Long finish, fun drink. silky balanced, anise sweet cherry flavors (3935 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
