Community Tasting Notes (average 90.9 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 144 notes)

Tasted by sirpat00 on 4/13/2024 & rated 94 points: Sour cherry fruit with light and sweet red accents, sweet spice, meaty and herbal complexity. Juicy palate with a defined sour cherry fruit, but also adding darker features. Nice balance and a slightly spicy finish as an extra. The 2019 keeps delivering with remarkable consistency. (1002 views)
Tasted by mcflytfc on 4/5/2024 & rated 93 points: Natural cork, light ruby in the glass. Bright red fruits on the nose. Tart cherry and strawberry flavours. Quite a bit of acidity. Tannins are still noticeable.
Good QPR, will improve and integrate nicely over the next five years. (1687 views)
Tasted by mwneil on 3/7/2024 & rated 87 points: This bottle never clicked, bitter finish which have been related to pea shoots we ate, not much bouquet, fruit was subdued, drank with blackened salmon, paprika potatoes and pea shoots - maybe not the best pairing, drank ok but still disappointing, last bottle, on to other bottlings. (1768 views)
Tasted by hkbob on 3/3/2024 & rated 90 points: Subdued nose of strawberry, pomegranate, red cherry and sous-bois notes with some background sweetness. A lighter-bodied frame with pronounced acidity, gradually opening up over a couple of hours to develop a creamier palate profile. Medium finish. I was left wanting - for me, this wine was like a plane taxiing down the runway but never quite achieving lift-off. A glass poured on day 2 had taken a step backward. My score reflects the best part of its drinking window. (1705 views)
Tasted by BaroloBucky on 2/29/2024 & rated 94 points: Another 2019 stunner. Is this the best Willamette Valley vintage ever? I think so. Vibrant red berry, mushroom and earth on the nose. Same on the palate with loads of lively fresh cherry and cranberry, and some light herbal accent. Lots of acid and enough tannin to lay it down at least 5 more years and let those earthy notes come out more. Everything is in harmony bringing together the pop of new world fruit with the grace of old world restraint. The finish is long. It’s lean, elegant, and very classy. Drink now - roughly 2029.  Tasted by The Necs on 2/4/2024 & rated 92 points: Drinking really well now. Would buy agin. (2091 views)
Tasted by Gregboch on 1/25/2024 & rated 85 points: Aroma is classic, rich new world Pinot Aroma. Cherry & cheese, earthy mushroom

Flavor follows suit with cherry juice with the mushroom cheese notes.
Light bodied. (1808 views)
Tasted by fussyeater on 1/10/2024 & rated 91 points: English strawberries on the nose, medium bodied, very well integrated now with silky almost powdery tannins and the fruit is like a savoury strawberry and there's freshness and well judged acidity. Good persistence and length. The previously noticeable oak has been gobbled up, as expected. Bravo DDO. Sealed with Diam 5. (2104 views)
Tasted by SuperSomm on 1/4/2024 & rated 86 points: Pale ruby colour. Medium and developing nose with red cherry, charred wood, forest floor, spices and dark chocolate. Medium taste of red cherry, charred wood, forest floor, spices, dark chocolate and wet leaves. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Light tannins. Medium body. A very good Oregon Pinot Noir. Drink now or over the next couple of years. Goes well with duck, pork or poultry. (753 views)
(1987 views)
Tasted by mwneil on 12/16/2023 & rated 93 points: Medium body, light color, ok bouquet, light fruit with acid and some oak, good fruit, balanced, opened up beautifully, DDO PN is a good benchmark, after a few days of OK wines it is a joy to open up one of their bottles, I have had by ups and downs with their wines but over the long haul great consistency, drank with grilled chicken, will drink again.  Tasted by sirpat00 on 9/22/2023 & rated 94 points: decanted and served immediately. Red cherry and sour cherry. Slightly earthy and hints of game. Herbal complexity of black tea, a whiff of mint and lavender; later adding floral scents as well. Balanced, soft palate with decent tension and presence. Gains with aeration. The palate is full of character with a herbaceous and slightly rustic flair, underlined by a more leathery touch. Nice versatility showing an array of beautiful aromas. (2776 views)
Tasted by JustOneMoreGlass on 9/18/2023 & rated 94 points: Time has come today! This is now in a great place. 1.5 years since previous tasting and there's tremendous improvement. Very typical Burgundian profile. Delicious. 94/95 (2542 views)
Tasted by Vinyo on 9/10/2023 & rated 92 points: Benchmark Oregon Pinot Noir. Bright red fruit, cinnamon and cedar on the the nose. Palate is full of Bing cherry and fresh cranberry. Balanced, integrated acidity. This would age nicely for a few years, but it's ready to go now. (2443 views)
Tasted by Carib on 9/4/2023 & rated 95 points: Now a great wine, this is ready to drink. I really enjoyed the seriousness of the craft and the lightness of touch. Perfect for a waning summer day.

Tasted by sirpat00 on 7/29/2023 & rated 94 points: Decanted 30min. Fresh herbs, sour cherry, plum, meaty notes are all pretty good. But the palate is a show-stopper. Velvety, perfect amount of acidity. The mid-palate creates immense tension. Layered with more cherry-like fruit, but with the finish adding plum to the profile. 4th bottle in a year with consistent results. (2585 views)
Tasted by chitowncdpguy on 7/24/2023: Fairly tart on opening but smoothed out after a couple of hours. Pretty, but restrained compared to earlier bottles. (2440 views)
Tasted by Big Juicy Red on 7/13/2023: Nice, but very restrained. Well balanced, moderate plus alcohol (13.9), and easy drinking. The flip side is that nothing stood out — it didn’t wow me in any way. Perhaps more time will help with the complexity, but I don’t think the flavor intensity is likely to change. (2270 views)
Tasted by Cacio Pepe on 6/16/2023 & rated 94 points: I mean this is one of the purest noses I’ve smelled in a long time, very hard to believe this is only a $50 bottle, blind, just on the nose I would be thinking more than double at the very least. On the nose it immediately takes me to a place, wine tasting on the Dundee Hills, it’s a perfect expression of Dundee pinot. Cherries and earth, you can really smell that red soil from Dundee, almost a warm earth smell, followed by the smell of incense burning. Lovely minerality, along with freshly steaped tea. This is wonderfully aromatic, without giving away too much. Texture is seamless, tannins are perfectly integrated. Sweet cherry fruit on the palate, with a very lengthy finish. Immediately after smelling this wine I ordered 4 more bottles, and after tasting it 2 more. (648 views)
Tasted by mfimiani47 on 6/16/2023 & rated 93 points: Best bottle yet. Pretty good complexity and some good cherry notes before some soil and funk. Great value. (2576 views)
Tasted by sirpat00 on 6/3/2023 & rated 94 points: Sour cherry and red cherry fruit, initially slightly reductive. Fleshy with mineral notes of coal. Fresh and well-balanced palate with a cool fruit profile. Again world-class for the price point, in my opinion. This did evolve spectacularly, would recommend a brief decant of up to 1h. (2884 views)

Tasted by levinml on 5/23/2023: Nice first impression first night, but somehow didn't get re-seal with pump and didn't "open" again until the third night, by which time it was vinegar. Bad on me. (2201 views)
Tasted by Poussin on 5/14/2023 & rated 89 points: Tasted on a plane out of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf after a weekend with dust clogging my sinuses; score takes this into account. I get that juicy, Bourgogne Pinot Noir / regional Burgundy vibe. Good, acid-washed, clean-finishing structure. Not bad, but lacking the finesse of a true red Burg. (2510 views)
Tasted by rkliu on 5/13/2023 & rated 93 points: Superb! This is so elegant and I enjoyed every sip of it. (1831 views)
Tasted by DougLee on 5/6/2023 & rated 92 points: Ruby color. Nose of floral scents, fresh cut berry, faint earth. Dark luscious berry and iodine with hints of lavender on the satiny palate. Lively acidity and firm tannin. Long finish of warm red fruit and iron inflected soil. Great precision and poised fruit even at this young age. Half bottle consumed at Great Sand Dunes Lodge. (2515 views)
Tasted by sirpat00 on 4/16/2023 & rated 96 points: Sour cherry, strawberry and rhubarb fruit, finely layered. Reductive at first with some matchstick, but dissipating. Also fine spice, ginger, smoke, black coffee and meaty notes. Juicy palate with tension and perfect harmony. Keeps getting better and better, outstanding value! (2773 views)
Tasted by Sagan99 on 3/31/2023 & rated 90 points: This is the 3rd bottle of this wine within 6 months of purchase.

And the rapidity of it's aging seems remarkable.
That is, the wine has aged (@13°-15°C, in the dark) to be more elegant, with silkier tannins and still with the longer finish and previously mentioned typical characteristics.
All within 6 months or so.

This is one of the reasons CellarTracker has helped me resolve - that is, to assess the waves of aging of known inventory, wherein previously, I would find the easiest accessible bottle... And inevitably, many would be on the downside of maturation.
No longer.

I will now look at this wine in early 2024.
If it stays with these maturation mileposts, it will still be gone in a couple of years.

Which is strange, since I thought it would be a bottle per year, and a decade of enjoyment.

Who knows... Maybe that will still be the case.

(With lightly cheesed Pizza tonight.)

Really showing nicely now, even with only an hour decant.
Buy more... But be aware the drinking window here.

Tasted by Theamateurwinesnob on 1/27/2023: Wanted to check in on this. From 375ml. Super fragrant at the moment: ripe strawberry, red cherry, spice, cola, and vanilla. An overwhelming amount of oak right now. On the palate, really concentrated with spice, oak, and noticeable heat (13.9%). Hoping some bottle age will balance things out but thinking this will require some time. I would hold off for at least a few years.

Revisited after 9 days in the fridge. Has mellowed out some but still getting quite a bit of cola and oak. I think this bottling will require a lot of patience. (2020 views)

Mixed berries, dark cherry, coffee, spices, and toasty oak, with medium-level acidity and very good length. Better this time. Maybe it's the pot stickers? 😂
No more to say than last time, other than these Drouhin's seem to know what they're doing!!!

Though I think when trying to taste test against another wine, makes one focus on the comparison, rather than each individual wine. I've been at this scenario previously...

This is a fabulous wine, even if I think their Roserock Zephrine, one ups it! Or maybe, "4" ups it.

Tasted by Bax62 on 11/1/2022 & rated 92 points: This was very nice on the first night, but really opened up and showed well on night 2. Fruit is typical PN cherry, but not a fruit bomb.  Tasted by Miguelvino@yahoo.com on 10/10/2022 & rated 91 points: Very Burgundian style. Red fruits at nose and palate, good acidity, light medium body, medium finish. (2963 views)
Tasted by PIntag on 10/8/2022 & rated 91 points: This was served double-blind with 4 other reds in a family tasting.
I was immediately thinking new world Pinot on the first sniff and confirmed with the first sip. Very lovely, if a bit simple, pure and clean Pinot on the palate. Nicely balancing acidity with some tannic structure. Seemed a little bit restrained, but pretty open with some vigorous swirling. But from where? I thought this was probably not California - clearly not a RRV or Sonoma Coast flavor profile. Didn't strike me as Santa Rita Hills and clearly not Santa Maria Valley. Didn't place it as Oregon either, due to the structure. It did remind me of a Central Otago Pinot that I recently tried, so that's what I guessed - from the 2018 vintage at a price point of $38.
This was the clear winner of the blind tasting, as the other wines mostly disappointed. (2533 views)
Tasted by mwneil on 10/6/2022 & rated 92 points: Subtle wine, gained weight as it opened, light body, earthy with fruit slowly asserting itself, complex flavors, elegant structure, drank with rack of NJ lamb, spinach pie and veggies, wine needs more time, drank easily, will drink again. (2504 views)
Tasted by Sagan99 on 9/30/2022 & rated 88 points: It would seem that Drouhin has been making magnificent Pinot Noir for generations. Oregon was only established in 1988, so there's work to do... It's a long way from the house's Grand Cru's of the Cote de Nuits (where the 90+ ratings would show up).
That said, I really enjoyed this terrific wine from our new world! I was very pleasantly surprised, having had recently coifed some less than exciting Oregon pinot.

( With this Drouhin, I did a side by side tasting with Jim Clendenen's Au Bon Climat Oregon Pinot.
I could not find same vintage, but both were amazing- see those ABC notes, too)

For those Drouhin Oregon Pinot lovers, you should definitely try ABC Pinot, too.
Side by side, they're incredibly similar.
Long term, ABC will have longer time frame to resolve the tannins.
But, to drink earlier, no question the Drouhin is the one.
I know it says it will last a while...too be seen.

The winner... Tie!

In terms of rating, to me, the 90+ bar is reserved for great vintage Grand Cru Burgundies. It's a bias, maybe. But, they've reached that level of respect and quality over hundreds of years.
With that, my 88 is truly spectacular. Maybe the next 5 bottles will get there?

Pinot Noir 100%
13.9% abv
$50 in Canuckland

Usual young Pinot beautifully clear ruby colour.
Nose of mostly red berries, with blueberries wafting in the right wind. There is an earthy minerality as well.
Has some more supple tannin, but it's an elegantly balanced wine, which is drinkable now.
Dry, medium body
Longer 45+ second finish.

I didn't decant this wine as I was comparing to ABC 2018 sample. But, it would do much better if aired for 3 hours in advance.

I've some left and will come back to it again in a day.

Addendum #1- has opened slightly, showing a little more structure, but still not like the ABC comparison. The wine is really elegant. I think that is the best term to use.
I know Drouhin and others say this will get better with age. I agree. However, I don't think this improves into a decade. Maybe a bottle every October for 5 years will ensure my eyes and nose and palate, let it not become less than it is, or should be.
And, I think this could get to 90. Just not willing to go there yet!

Addendum #2-
I had read a few notes from others on this wine, and they'd mentioned Rose Rock, a single Drouhin Oregon vineyard. Now that, had finally shown me the best Oregonian Pinot Noir, North American pn, since decades ago Calera and David Bruce. I can now die a happy, satisfied wine drinker!

PS- Drink the Rainbow!

Tasting Notes
Our 2019 Dundee Hills Estate Pinot Noir is beautifully concentrated with a decidedly complex bouquet. Restrained notes of redcurrant compote and tobacco transition to youthful spice and bramble. Texturally very pleasing, the velvety palate seamlessly blends a kirsch core with an appealing influence of earthy undertones and a touch of vanilla. The engaging finish is luxuriously long and elegant. I do not doubt that this wine will continue to develop beautifully over the next 8-12 years.

Production Notes
Our Pinot Noir is handpicked into 25-pound totes, then hand sorted and de-stemmed in our four level gravity flow winery. Fermentations are long and careful and by November, all of our Pinot is safely in barrel. Our barrels are custom made in Burgundy, using oak from France’s best forests, allowing the character of the soil and vintage to show through.

Vintage Notes
In 2019 we saw a return to the classic, ever changing Oregon growing season. Winter started out relatively mild, but gradually became largely cold and wet. Spring was warmer but also wet, and despite some mild frosts in April, there were also warmer than average temperatures. Through the summer, there were fewer heat spikes, and then cooler skies for harvest.

That's not necessarily a bad thing as it indicates perhaps less time in cold soak and extended maceration. From memory, I think this was 20% new oak, and it popped a bit too much on the palate upon opening. The vanilla, spice, and woody notes on the palate dulled the fruit... at least for the first half day it was open. Then, like all great wines, the cherry fruit comes to fruit, and it develops notes of mushroom, clove, and floral flavors to support the fruit and acidity. I'd give this at least 5 years in bottle to reveal all its treasure. Capable of being a much better than 91-point wine. (2317 views)

Tasted by MattMauldin on 6/15/2022: Winery visit. Aromas of raspberry & black cherry, fresh red florals, baking spices and damp earth. Fresh red fruit on the palate over a mineral core, with savory spices, herbs and earth. Nice elegance, well-framed acid, closing with dense grainy tannins and good overall length. (1959 views)
Tasted by sirpat00 on 6/8/2022 & rated 94 points: Not decanted. The emphasis here is on the pure sour cherry fruit with elements of strawberry and rhubarb, side notes of sweet spice, vegetal complexity. On the palate the fruit has a nice follow through from attack to finish, even if still accompanied by pretty wild acidity. Otherwise nice structure. But what’s most appealing is the seductive floral layer. Very Burg-like in style and not as early-drinking as others. Would either decant 2+ hours or cellar another 3-5 years. 94+ (2034 views)
Tasted by chitowncdpguy on 6/1/2022: Very nice. Red fruit, a little sappy, hints of earth, some Christmas spice, a little more sappiness on the finish. (2104 views)

Tasted by cougarshk on 4/24/2022 & rated 91 points: "red fruits, strong aroma of red fruits & cherry, perfume but not floral, hint of oak and light touch of spice, light tannin, med body, med lasting (6-8s), Overall is good (91pts) but not perfect balance due to lack of acidity and minerality.

Shadow of burgs. Quality par to village burgs

Tasted by hiker_guy on 4/15/2022: Brought this to France with me to drink with a friend from Burgundy. It was a nice evening contemplating this bottle.

Popped and left open for about an hour. No decanter at the small restaurant we arranged to open this at. We chose the restaurant for the food...
Poured into glasses and the first 30-45 minutes it was pretty closed up. That was OK. We had time.
Nose gradually unfurled and showed some nice cranberry, whisps of smoke, bright red fruit. Very nice.
Palate started out tight but gradually expanded through the evening. We both ordered the lamb as the best pairing on the menu. It was perfectly paired. Really nice flavor enhancement between food and wine. The wine showed nice layers of flavor and really good structure. Finish was decent.
Overall this was a hit. The chef came out for a glass and loved the wine as well.
Would buy again. (2431 views)

Tasted by Whidah on 4/3/2022 & rated 92 points: I haven’t drunk nearly enough Burgundy to have a well tuned palate, but this strikes me as the right taste at half the price. Elegant, perfumed and tannis already resolved to my peasant palate.
If there is a better West Coast Pinot at this price point, I have yet to find it. (1992 views)

Tasted by Matteo1 on 3/21/2022: Black cherry, raspberry, cola, black liquorice. Big almost jammy palate with a layered finish. Plenty of acid keeps it fresh. Doesn't really capture the vintage, but it's very good for a hedonistic style. Needs a few years for tannin to resolve. (2090 views)
Tasted by beef1020 on 1/30/2022: much more fragrant nose, red and blue fruit. Some non-fruit floral and vegetal aromas, most fruit forward nose of the three. Flavor profile is mixed, more towards blue fruits, higher sensation of acidity than the Eyrie, with some initial vegetal flavors as well. Surprisingly hollow mid palate and slightly astringent, and very weak, finish. Hallow mid-palate and finish were present on both the first and second days. (2785 views)
Tasted by LMArcher on 9/18/2021: Beautiful ruby robe. Cherry, raspberry, sous bois nose.
LB, sublime acids, tannines, floral (lavender, dried wild marsh rose), blended red fruit, subtle, lingering finish. (3359 views)
Tasted by fussyeater on 8/20/2021 & rated 87 points: Absolute infanticide to open this now, yet I did, as curiosity got the better of me. At the moment the wood does not seem fully integrated and it seems a bit tart and tannic but still with succulent red fruit. Not a joy to drink now and hold off until at least 2023 or preferably 2025. The 2017 is approachable now. DDO makes serious red PNs which are not to be drunk immediately on release. Rating is for wine as it is now, yet would expect it to be 92+ in due course. (2636 views)
Tasted by Redsquare82 on 4/10/2021 & rated 93 points: Had a chance to taste this at the winery, and then later again in the same afternoon. It was superb for a young pinot. A bright fruity nose of cherries and raspberries, with some minerality. On the palate it was red cherries, tart raspberries, with undertones of earth, forest floor, and even a touch of anise. This seems like it has some collating potential. (3517 views)
Tasted by dac2849 on 4/3/2021 & rated 91 points: Appearance - Light ruby color, clear at edge, reflective, good body/legs - 3/3
Aroma/Bouquet - Red cherry, red raspberry, light alcohol/heat on the nose, mineral notes, oak/vanilla - 5/6
Taste - Red cherry, red plum, light tannins, light acidity, light minerality - 5/6
Aftertaste - Medium finish, red fruit continues, tannins fade, mineral on the back end - 3/3
Overall - Good mix of fruit, tannin, acid, complex mix of flavor - 2/2
Note - This wine evaluation is based on the American Wine Society 20-point judging criteria, then interpolated into a 100-point score. (2841 views)
Tasted by fredb on 3/4/2021: Took an early look at one of these to get a sense of the vintage. Color is dark purple-red. Nose is typical red-fruited Dundee Hills character with cran-raspberry, cherry, and vanilla. Palate has a tart cran-cherry entry with some crunchy raspberry and hints of licorice and cinnamon coming in on a medium finish. Good to go right now before it shuts down for awhile, I expect. Drink soon or hold until 2024. (2398 views)

Domaine Drouhin Oregon

Producer website

Domaine Drouhin has been on the viticultural cutting edge in Oregon since their first vintage in 1988, and continues to set the pace.

Winemaker Véronique Drouhin-Boss' roots go deep into her family's 13th century cellars under the streets of Beaune, the heart of Burgundy. She represents the fourth generation of winemakers from this venerable wine family of France, but it is here in Oregon that her skills and passion are bringing forth some of the most sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay produced anywhere. With centuries of Burgundian winemaking experience flowing through her blood, Véronique has lovingly crafted every drop of wine produced at Domaine Drouhin Oregon since the first vintage in 1988.

Véronique Boss-Drouhin

Our winemaker extraordinaire produces elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on both sides of the Atlantic.

Véronique Drouhin-Boss, the fourth-generation winemaker of the Drouhin family, has lovingly crafted every drop of wine produced at Domaine Drouhin Oregon since our first vintage in 1988. She also now oversees the winemaking at Maison Joseph Drouhin in Burgundy, producing some of the world's finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines on both sides of the Atlantic.

Véronique's interest in wine and the family business began when she was young, and blossomed under the tutelage of father Robert Drouhin. In 1986, she graduated from the University of Dijon with an advanced degree in enology, and decided to venture to Oregon to expand her experience and learn more about the fledgling industry that was beginning to take root in the Willamette Valley. Véronique interned that year with Adelsheim Vineyards, Bethel Heights, and Eyrie. She has returned to Oregon every year since then to capture the essence of what nature provides in our unique estate vineyards.

In many ways, Véronique embodies the essence of Pinot Noir -- spirited, graceful, and feminine. Her wines at Domaine Drouhin have always been hallmarked by elegance, finesse, purity, and the capacity to improve gracefully with age.

Pinot Noir

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Jura, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Pinot Noir is one of the world's most prestigious grapes. It is very difficult to grow and thrives well in France, especially in Champagne and Burgundy. Pinot Noir thrives less in hot areas, is picky on soil, and deserves some oak storage.

Pinot Noir, or Blauburgunder / Spätburgunder in German, is a blue grapevine - and, as the German name suggests, the grape comes originally from Burgundy in France.

The grape, which thrives in calcareous soils, is used primarily for the production of red wine, and it is widely regarded as producing some of the best wines in the world. The wine style is often medium-bodied with high fruit acidity and soft tannins. It can be quite peculiar in fragrance and taste, and not least in structure - which may be why it is referred to as "The Grapes Ballerina".
Pinot Noir is also an important ingredient in sparkling wines, not least in champagne since it is fruity, has good acidity and contains relatively little tannins.
The grape is considered quite demanding to grow. The class itself consists of tightly packed grapes, which makes it more sensitive to rot and other diseases.

Pinot Noir changes quite easily and is genetically unstable. It buds and matures early which results in it often being well ripened. Climate is important for this type of grape. It likes best in cool climates - in warm climates the wines can be relaxed and slightly pickled.
In cooler climates, the wine can get a hint of cabbage and wet leaves, while in slightly warmer regions we often find notes of red berries (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, currants), roses and slightly green notes when the wine is young. With age, more complex aromas of forest floor, fungi and meat emerge.

In Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, it often produces light wines with less character. However, it has produced very good results in California, Oregon and New Zealand.

With its soft tannins and delicate aroma, it is excellent for white fish, chicken and light meat. For the stored wines you can serve small game. Classic duck breast is a matter of course, a Boeuf Burgundy and Pinot Noir are pure happiness.

Pinot Noir loses quality by over-harvesting.
Pinot Noir is prone to diseases, especially rot and mildew. Viruses cause major problems especially in Burgundy.
Pinot Noir are large round grapes with thin skins. Relatively high in alcohol content. Medium rich tannins and good with acid.
As a young person, Pinot Noir has a distinctly fruity character such as raspberries, cherries and strawberries.
A mature Pinot Noir, the taste is different. Cherry goes into plum and prune flavors. It smells of rotten leaves, coffee, moist forest floor and animal wine. This must be experienced.
In warm climates you find boiled plum, some rustic, little acid.
If the grapes are over-grown, the wine will be thin, with little color and flavor.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
