Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 88.8 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 22 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by juffer on 3/10/2015 & rated 91 points: Minerals and grapefruit in both the nose and palate becoming even more evident (especially in the taller glass) since the last bottle, with the peach diminished. Becoming almost like a dry late harvest riesling. For my tastes, this is a worthwhile trade-off, so worth aging this and will be interested to see what happens with the remaining bottles. What a fantastic buy! (2754 views)
Tasted by juffer on 10/27/2014 & rated 90 points: Still drinking really well. Peachy floral nose, excellent acidity on the finish. (2901 views)
Tasted by dmitchell4 on 4/12/2014 & rated 90 points: Mary Lee dinner, nice acidity, medium dry. (3252 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 2/13/2014: PNP on a cold winter night....lovely bright crisp flavors with aromatic fruit, mineral and acidity which is gently rounded out as the wine breathes and warms slightly...very pretty (3328 views)
Tasted by vlzat on 2/12/2014 & rated 85 points: Medium to full body, deep gold yellow color, aromatic, white garden fruits aroma, apples, peach, and minerals on the palate, some nice bitterness and minerality on finish, medium long finish, oily, nice acidity, balanced, complex, food friendly. Well associated with fowl, sardines and sharp cheeses. Serve 10º - 22º. Past a peak. Drink up. (1958 views)
Tasted by dexwine on 1/24/2014 & rated 88 points: Round feel with slightly concentrated straightforward orchard fruit flavors with a mineral note adding lift and enough acidity to keep this fresh. Good mid palette. Nice clarity. Nice wine. (2050 views)
Tasted by UpfromtheCellar on 1/10/2014 & rated 88 points: Bright grassy nose, nice round mouth feel with minerals and spice. Good clean finish. Nice. Has improved with additional bottle age. 88+? (1511 views)
Tasted by JasonNYC1 on 10/13/2013: Really a nice wine for the $ (2097 views)
Tasted by Richard123 on 10/12/2013 & rated 90 points: Lovely, well-rounded wine. Lightly floral and grassy, with some light grapefruit/acidity that nicely balances it. Worked well at fridge temp or slightly warmer, but is quite light. Best paired with fish or other lightly flavored food. Drinks well now, but could improve further with age. (1133 views)
Tasted by juffer on 9/23/2013 & rated 90 points: This is getting even better with age and I think still has a good two or three years left. Now that some of the primal notes of peach and grapefruit are becoming more tamed, some interesting minerality is also coming through. This is really a fantastic buy. (1066 views)
Tasted by vindictive on 9/23/2013: fresh, fruity, not bad (1111 views)
Tasted by gordoyflaca on 9/7/2013 & rated 91 points: This was really nice, spring peach and peachskins, tingly. try with salad/balsalmic/oil/fig/goat cheese (1175 views)
Tasted by cse on 8/7/2013 & rated 85 points: a pleasant quaffer if you're looking for a juicy wine without much backbone (893 views)
Tasted by UpfromtheCellar on 7/6/2013 & rated 88 points: Floral nose, sweet initial impression giving way to minerals, grapefruit acids and light spice, nice finish with yeasty and straw notes.

Middle of the range mouth feel and presence.

Nice wine but ultimately, nothing super special. (1143 views)
Tasted by jdrago on 6/16/2013 & rated 89 points: Opened to aromas of honeysuckle and melons. Very fruity taste; long finish. Very nice wine. Paired well with a dish of pasta with fresh arugula pesto. (952 views)
Tasted by LordHighSteward on 5/23/2013: Trebbiano. (1289 views)
Tasted by juffer on 5/16/2013 & rated 89 points: Still very fresh. Fragrant nose of lemon and grapefruit. Light to mid weight palate and strong acidity on the finish. Reminds me of what good trebbiano is supposed to taste like when it's drunk very young. (1159 views)
Tasted by Bourolo on 8/19/2012 & rated 88 points: Excellent summer wine (1566 views)

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is the Abruzzo region of Central Italy's dry white wine appellation partner to its iconic red, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. It is the only DOC in Abruzzo specializing exclusively in white wine.

According to the official DOC laws, a Trebbiano d'Abruzzo wine must be made from at least 85 to 100 percent of Trebbiano Toscano or Trebbiano Abruzzese or a combination of the two grapes. The latter is a distinct variety from the former and as its name suggests the more traditional local option. It is often called by the name of the appellation. Alternately up to 85 percent of Bombino Bianco can be used; this and the Trebbiano Abruzzese grape variety are thought by some to be identical, but DNA profiling has as yet failed to confirm this. The degree to which wineries across the Abruzzo region have correctly identified their vines is unsurprisingly open to question.
